INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-The Virginia rowing team finished fifth at the NCAA Championships on Sunday on Eagle Creek Park Lake in Indianapolis, Ind. It is the seventh consecutive season the Cavaliers have finished in the top six at the national regatta.

UVa finished fifth with 108 points, behind champion Ohio State (126), California (124), Princeton (112) and USC (110).

The Cavaliers finished fourth overall in both the Varsity Eight and the Varsity Four, while the Second Varsity Eight won its petite final to place seventh overall.

"It's disappointing because we thought we had an outside shot to win the team title and had a good shot to win the Varsity Eight," head coach Kevin Sauer said. "We had some great races throughout the year, but today it just didn't happen. The competition was really competitive this weekend and this result hurts, but it's going to fuel us for the future."
