ATLANTA, Ga. -- Virginia sophomore men's golfer Denny McCarthy carded a 1-under-par 69 on the final round of stroke play at the NCAA Championships at the Capital City Club.
McCarthy fired a first-round 72 and a second-round 67 finished in a tie for 22nd place at 208. The Rockville, Md. native finished 77th in the 2012 NCAA Championships.
Blacksburg graduate Jake Mondy of Auburn finished with a score of 8-over 218 and in a tie for 109th place. Auburn moved from a 23rd place finish after the first round to a 13th place finish after three rounds. Auburn missed the cut for match play.
Max Homa of California took medalist honors with a 9-under score of 201. Homa's Bears took the top team spot with a score of 824.
