Fantasy football forecaster

For those who celebrate Christmas, fantasy football may be the last thing on your mind today, but don't let the gift of my fantasy picks go to waste!

Heck, put this sports section under your tree to remind you if you have to.

There's a spot for it right near that bicycle that took two days to assemble.

Remember, the next time you read this column will be in 2010 and wouldn't it be nice to start the year off knowing you trounced your fantasy league rivals (if this week is your championship game)?

It would sure make me feel more optimistic about any resolutions I made.

But I'll get into those next week.

For now, I'm content that I didn't succumb to insanity while I sat on the Beltway for three hours on my drive home from my family reunion in Maryland over the weekend.

Let's get on with week 16, which starts tonight, so set your lineups.

Quarterbacks

Tony Romo, Cowboys

Dallas has everything to play for and the Redskins may just be looking to try out more mind-boggling fake field goals. The teams play each other tough and Romo was shut down in the teams' first meeting, but I think he's a good play.

Brett Favre, Vikings

Look for him to rebound from a couple bad performances and get some positive vibes rolling for Minnesota as the playoffs inch closer.

Running backs

Ryan Grant, Packers

Green Bay plays Seattle's not-so-great defense and I think Grant is a good bet to get some yards and maybe a score.

Ahmad Bradshaw, Giants

It should be obvious by now, but he's clearly the better running back on the Giants.

Wide receivers

Michael Crabtree, 49ers

He's not exactly going against the greatest defense (the Lions) and I'd expect San Francisco to really try and see what they've got on their roster as the year winds down.

Roddy White, Falcons

White's too good to put up the numbers he has the past couple weeks. He should perform better against the Bills.

Tight ends

Heath Miller, Steelers

Pittsburgh needs a win against Baltimore to keep its dim playoff hopes alive and Miller is Mr. Reliable.

Greg Olsen, Bears

I'm just picking him because the Vikings have had some defensive issues lately. If you have a better option, play that guy instead.

Kickers and defense

For a kicker, I will go with Baltimore's Billy Cundiff and I think the Saints defense will really show up this week.

Last week

Hits: Marion Barber, Frank Gore, Derrick Mason, John Carlson, Shayne Graham, Patriots defense.

Misses: Devin Thomas, Dustin Keller.

So-so: Kyle Orton, Matt Schaub.
