Fantasy football forecaster

Oh what a week it has been.

After going with my older brother to see the most dreadful football game of my life (Redskins-Chiefs) last Sunday, I must now crush what remains of his sports soul in our fantasy matchup today.

Is that a tad extreme?

Maybe, but there's nothing better than beating a family member at something. There's no way they can avoid your gloating.

That's what's great about one of my fantasy leagues. It's all family members. Cousins, aunts, uncles, siblings, the whole spectrum.

And we all talk/text pretty often about how miserably or awesomely (if those weren't words before, they are now) we are doing.

See, fantasy football brings families together. Awww, cue the music from Full House that comes after Danny Tanner gives a speech to the girls.

On to Week 7:

Quarterbacks

Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers

He's been a beast this year, and I wouldn't let Minnesota's scary-good defensive line convince me to sit Big Ben.

Matt Ryan, Falcons

The Dallas defense isn't that great, and Ryan should put up good numbers against a weak secondary.

Running backs

Donald Brown, Colts

I know he's Joseph Addai's backup, but the Colts should absolutely thump St. Louis and they can run the ball late. Brown could get a lot of garbage carries.

Laurence Maroney, Patriots

New England, which is heading over to the original England for this game, finally seems to be clicking on offense, and that benefits everybody. Oh and the Buccaneers' defense stinks. Booyah!

Wide receivers

Miles Austin, Cowboys

He's becoming the big-play threat for the Cowboys and big plays equate to fantasy numbers. And good fantasy numbers equal wins. Pretty easy math.

Steve Breaston, Cardinals

I know the Cardinals usually stink when they come to the East Coast, but all their receivers are worth a play against the Giants this week.

Tight ends

Jermichael Finley, Packers

I've never heard of him, but he's playing the Browns. So it's worth a gamble. One of these days, I'll stop picking on the Browns. But not today.

Benjamin Watson, Patriots

See Maroney, Laurence.

Kickers and defense

For a kicker, I'd say David Akers of the Eagles should have a good game Monday night.

Also, I'd say go ahead and bring out the Jets defense against Oakland if you've let them rest on the shelf.

Last week

Hits: Heath Miller, Zach Miller, Ryan Longwell.

Misses: Matt Hasselbeck, Kevin Smith, Braylon Edwards, Jeremy Maclin, Seattle defense.

So-so: David Garrard, Ahmad Bradshaw.
