Friday, January 20, 2006Wizards recall RamosWASHINGTON, D.C. -- Center Peter John Ramos was recalled by the Washington Wizards from the Roanoke Dazzle on Thursday. The 7-foot-3, 287-pound Ramos was assigned to Roanoke four days before the Dazzle's Nov. 18 season opener. In 21 games with Roanoke, Ramos averaged 14.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots while averaging 28 minutes. "P.J. did a very nice job in the D-League," Wizards president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld said. "We feel the experience was very beneficial for him and that this was the proper time to bring him back so that he can be with his teammates and practice with our team." Ramos' promotion leaves the Dazzle without any reassigned NBA players. His departure leaves eight demoted NBA players in the NBA Development League. Forward Anthony Blatche, another player who had been assigned by Washington to Roanoke, was recalled by the NBA club on Jan. 2. |
