PEARISBURG - Brian Mann scored on a 3-yard run with 3:26 to play and Giles held on to beat Galax 25-20 in a back-and-forth nondistrict football thriller on Friday night.
Mann rushed for 166 yards and two TDs on 21 carries and also threw a touchdown pass.
Steven Peoples rushed for 205 yards and two TDs on 16 carries and also caught a TD pass for Galax (2-3).
The Maroon Tide, which trailed 12-0 early in the game, took the lead for the first time on a 76-yard Peoples run in the third quarter. The extra point attempt failed, which made the score 20-19.
But Giles (5-0) responded with a fourth-quarter drive to regain the lead.
Galax had one last chance to retake command, but the Spartans picked off a pass on their own 5-yard line with 1:20 to play.

BUENA VISTA - Ryheem Dawson rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries and sealed the win with a defensive score to lead Parry McCluer over previously unbeaten Auburn on Friday.
Dawson scored on a 44-yard fumble return with approximately two minutes remaining as Parry McCluer improved to 5-1.
Sean Cox led Auburn (4-1) with 90 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries.
