High school football: Reed, Hendricks lead Demons to win

CHRISTIANSBURG - Tanner Reed rushed for 152 yards and score, and Kory Hendricks added three touchdowns to lead the Christiansburg to a 40-13 football victory over Bassett on Friday.

Christiansburg 92-1), which had 521 yards of total offense got 86 rushing yards and two scores from Hendricks, and another 98 reception yards and a TD.

Christiansburg quarterback Charlie Jackson completed 10 of 22 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Noseguard Logan Winters added an 18 yards fumble return for another TD for Christiansburg.

Bassett quarterback Devontae Jordan ran for 130 yards and a touchdown, and also completed 10 of 22 passes for 130 yards and another TD.

The Bengals fell to 1-2

Magna Vista 27, Franklin County 14

ROCKY MOUNT - Jacquez Hairston rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns, and Jalen Hairston returned a recovered fumble 57 yards for another score to lead Magna Vista (2-1, 1-0 Piedmont District).

Sholina McGuire completed 7 of 19 passes for 132 yards and a TD for the Warriors, who also benefitted from seven Franklin County turnovers.

Bradley Parcell threw two touchdown passes for the Eagles (1-2, 1-1), but was also picked off four times.

In overtime, Rockbridge blocked the extra point, so the extra-point attempt by Wildcat kicker John Ramirez was the game-winner.

Roanoke Catholic committed five turnovers, including one in the fourth quarter that was returned 48 yards for a touchdown.
