High schools: Carlisle tops Trinity in boys soccer

LYNCHBURG - Kizza Edward and Andrew Okiring scored goals for Carlisle in a 2-0 boys soccer win over Trinity Episcopal in the first round of the VES/Seven Hills Tournament.

Drew Hall and Osman Sillah recorded assists for Carlisle.

Carlisle plays Fork Union at noon today, followed by Christchurch at 5:30 p.m.

BOYS SOCCER

Christchurch 0, North Cross 0

LYNCHBURG - Bennett Holley made 12 saves during the match that ended regulation time with neither team scoring a goal. Christchurch won the penalty kick shootout to determine seedings by a 6-5 margin.

North Cross (3-0-2) was outshot by Christchurch 16-7

North Cross plays Walsingham Academy and Grace Christian during today's tournament play.

Caitlyn Hartberger had 13 kills, Brittany Galop had five kills and a pair of aces and Beth Snyder had 27 assists for the Eagles (8-0).

Ellee Goad had two kills and eight aces, and Kaylee Goad added three kills for SWVa Home School.

ROCKY MOUNT - Madison Morris helped the Titans topple the Eagles in four games by recording a team-high 18 kills on Thursday.

Hannah Podeschi assisted on 23 points and added 10 kills. Brooke Mitchell had 13 kills for Hidden Valley (2-0).

Roanoke Catholic def. Eastern Montgomery
25-19, 25-19, 25-8

Alexandra Arnold had 10 kills and two aces, and Ashley Deer added 23 assists and two aces for Catholic (4-2) on Thursday.

Sarah Simpkins had six kills and a block for EastMont (1-6), and Scarlett Sisson finished with nine assists and an ace.
