BLACKSBURG - Catherine Goyle had a well-rounded game, logging 17 kills, 17 digs and three aces to help Blacksburg defeat the Carroll County 25-18, 23-25, 25-12, 25-15 in River Ridge District volleyball play Thursday. Chris Martin had a team-high 21 kills, 15 digs and one ace for Blacksburg (1-1, 1-1), while Abagail Phillips logged 10 kills and three digs. Eustacia Smith recorded a team-high 10 kills for Carroll County (1-3, 0-1). Jessica Sheek had seven kills and one ace, and Cheyenne Strickland assisted on 13 points, had eight digs and three kills.

Sarah McCurdy had a team-high 14 aces, and added five kills and five blocks to help the Warriors snap their three-game losing streak in a four-game win over the Knights (1-2, 0-2). Laura Jordan added seven aces and five kills for Faith Christian (1-3, 1-1). Alyssa Moorman recorded five aces, five kills and a pair of blocks.

Beth Snyder assisted on 19 points to help the Eagles defeat the Panthers in straight games and remain undefeated on the season. Haley Stump and Caitlyn Hartberger both had six kills for Roanoke Valley Christian (7-0, 4-0). Emily Turpin had eight digs, four kills and two aces for Pathway (5-3, 0-2). Rebecca Bolen also added six kills and a block.

MARION - Camryn McGrady pounded out 14 kills and Taylor Cannaday dished out 24 assists and six kills as the Blue Devils eked out a five-game victory. Emily Lindsey added 12 digs for Grayson County (4-1). Baker Cullop led Marion (2-4) with 16 kills, nine digs and three aces, Margaret Wagner added 14 kills and 28 digs, and Kate Pennington contributed 32 digs. Callee Cox also put down 10 kills for Marion.

DALEVILLE - Grayson Newberry logged 13 digs and 11 kills to help the Cavaliers snap their two-game losing streak by sweeping the Spartans (3-3) in straight games. Emily Spickard had a team-high 31 assists for Lord Botetourt (3-2). Michelle Kimbell and McKinley Saunders each recorded six kills. Katherine Danstrom had a team-high 25 digs for Salem. Jordan Hayes assisted on 12 points and had six kills, while Barrett Kemp had 12 digs, four kills and three aces. Lord Botetourt has defeated Salem in both matches this season.

CHRISTIANSBURG - Tiffany Smith assisted on 32 points and had three aces to help the Buffaloes drop the Blue Demons in five games. Riley Underwood added 17 digs and nine kills, and Caffie Muncy had a team-high 30 digs and two aces for Floyd (3-3). Kayla McMurray had a team-high 27 digs for Christiansburg (0-5). Kara Tester added eight kills, and Peyton King had four aces.

Leteashia Clarke had 20 kills, 14 blocks and 10 digs to help the Cougars snap the Highlanders' five-game winning streak. SaMone Moore added 17 digs and seven kills, and Dakota Botkins had six blocks for Covington (5-1). Holly Wilkes had 26 digs and 17 kills for Glenvar (5-1). Megan Ward had a big game with a team-high 45 digs, 13 kills and three aces. Lexie Trinchere assisted on 36 points, logged five kills and recorded four aces.

NEW CASTLE - Alex Hawks had five kills and two blocks, and Alex Remington dished out 11 assists as the Spartans stayed unbeaten by defeating the Rockets. Tori Belcher also added 10 digs for Giles (7-0). Brittany Austin led Craig County (1-5) with seven kills.

BEDFORD - Caitlin Carter had nine kills and four aces, and Kim Sharrett added four kills and five digs as the Minettes defeated the Golden Eagles. MaHalea Schicchitano added 16 digs and two aces for Liberty (2-2). Katelyn Dellis led Staunton River (1-6) with six kills and eight assists while Kayte Walvoort added five kills and four digs and Taylor Creason chipped in six digs and two aces.

Dadnie Thompson helped snap the Colonels' two-game losing streak by assisting on 23 points against the Bulldogs. Deja Booker logged seven kills for William Fleming (3-3), and Jewel Hurt recorded a team-high 16 digs. William Fleming has beaten Martinsville in both meetings this season.
