NEWPORT NEWS — Led by the play of team MVP Marcus Banks (Patrick Henry), the West rallied from a 22-point deficit and got as close as four in the fourth quarter before the East pulled away to win, 84-72, in the Virginia High School Coaches Association all-star boys basketball game Monday.
Banks scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half. He also had six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Ryan Gravely (Carroll County) scored seven for the West, and Charlie Fitzgerald (Parry McCluer) had 2.
EAST
