Player of the Year
MICHAEL DROUGAS | Salem | Junior
DROUGAS capped a 20-0 singles season by claiming the VHSL Group AA championship at Virginia Tech. He defeated Fitzhugh Johnson of James Monroe 7-5, 6-1 in the state final after stopping Thacher Jennings of E.C. Glass 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals. Drougas also reached the Region IV doubles final. He had three singles wins over Hidden Valley's Tim Roehr, including a recovery from match point in the River Ridge District final. Drougas is unbeaten in two years of singles play at Salem.
