Hidden Valley’s Carolyn Bethel finished 10th in the 5,000 at the New Balance Nationals track meet Friday night in Greensboro.
Bethel, a Northern Arizona signee who recently won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 at the VHSL Group AA championships, finished in 17:06:56.
Wesley Frazier of Raleigh won the race, which featured 37 of the nation’s top prep distance runners, in 15:55.94, just 10 seconds shy of the national high school record.
Bethel is also entered in Sunday’s 800.

North Cross’ Doughty named all-state
Matt Doughty of North Cross was named to the second team VISAA Division 3 All State baseball team.
James Stroud of Alliance Christian was the player of the year and Paul Rodgers of Tidewater coach of the year.
