Magna Vista 6, Martinsville 2
MARTINSVILLE - D.J. Pritchett's two-run single keyed a five-run fifth inning in the Warriors' win over the Bulldogs in the first round of the district tournament.
Richard Evans added two hits and an RBI, while Cameron Brummitt scored twice for Magna Vista (4-15).
Mike Smith and Xavier Johnson had a hit each for Martinsville (1-15).
Brummitt pitched three innings and struck out four, while allowing just two hits in relief.
MOUNTAIN EMPIRE DISTRICT
Narrows 6, Graham 4
NARROWS - Devin Turner's RBI-single and Courtland Caldwell's suicide squeeze scored two runs in the sixth as the Green Wave won a first-round game.
Narrows (13-6-1), which plays Galax in Wednesday's semifinals, led 4-2 before Graham's Jacob Coffey hit a two-run home run in the fifth.
Joe Hall, Dustin Meadows and Ty Patteson had singles for Narrows to load the bases in the sixth.
Will Patteson and Meadows had two hits for Narrows. Rodney Perdue got the win with two innings of relief.
Bath County 10, Craig County 4
HOT SPRINGS - Brandon Via's four RBIs paced the Chargers to a win over the Rockets in the first round of the district tournament.
Owen Fry drove in two runs and Michael Criser scored three times for Bath County, who scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jonah Ford added
Alex Carper led Craig County with two runs scored.
Derek Oliver picked up the win with nine hits and nine strikeouts over six innings.
Patrick County 14, Tunstall 2, 6 inn.
BASSETT - Kati Collins hit a grand slam, and Logan Martin reached base five times and scored four runs as the Cougars won a playoff for the regular-season title in six innings.
Beth Williams had three hits and two RBIs for Patrick County (13-7), while Martin had two hits and an RBI.
Natalie Mitchell pitched a three-hitter for the win.
Dominique Mulero scored a run and drove in a run for Tunstall.
Liberty 13, E.C. Glass 0, 5 inn.
BEDFORD - Leadoff hitter Kasey Carr had three hits, three stolen bases and two RBIs while scoring three times as the Minettes won a first-round game.
Allyson Crockett drove in two runs with a home run and a double for Liberty (17-4). MaHalea Scicchitano added two hits.
Cassidy Hensley struck out nine in four innings for her 16th win of the year.
Richlands 15, Marion 2, 5 inn.
RICHLANDS - Savannah Barber had six RBIs, including a grand slam, for Richlands (6-14), which advanced to the Southwest District semifinals by winning a game called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Huyana Whitley and Jordan Williams had two hits apiece for the Scarlet Hurricane (3-14), which surrendered seven runs in the first inning and six in the fourth.
MOUNTAIN EMPIRE DISTRICT
Narrows 5, Bland County 2
NARROWS - Megan Weatherly drove in four runs to help the Green Wave to a win over the Bears in the first round of the Mountain Empire District tournament.
Kalyn Neal added a triple and an RBI for Narrows (8-12-1). Winning pitcher Tiffany Perdue stole two bases and scored twice and gave up just three hits over seven innings in the circle.
Lindsey Watters and Lakyn Patterson singled and scored a run each for Bland County.
Narrows plays Grayson County at Galax on Wednesday.
Galax 10, Graham 0, 5 inn.
GALAX - Winning pitcher Holly Cassell pitched a 2-hitter, and helped her cause with two hits and two RBIs for the Maroon Tide (8-12), which advanced to play Fort Chiswell in Wednesday's MED semifinals by downing Graham in a game called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Haley Reynolds added two hits, including a double, and scored twice for Galax. Brooklyn Key had a two-run double.
BLUE RIDGE DISTRICT
Northside 2, William Byrd 1
Connor Martz finished a pass from Trey Noell in the final minute of regulation to lift the visiting Vikings to a win over the Terriers in the first round of the district tournament.
Jaime Dooley put William Byrd (5-10-2) up before the end of the first half.
Noell set up Bryce Wilson for the tying goal for Northside (7-9-1) with under 25 minutes to play in the second half.
Zach Large made five saves for Northside, which plays Lord Botetourt in Wednesday's semifinals, and Tanner Weaver made five saves for Byrd.
Rockbridge County 3, Staunton River 1
LEXINGTON - Miles Bent scored a goal and added an assist as the Wildcats advanced to the semifinals of the district tournament.
Gabe Ramirez headed home a corner kick by Bent just five minutes into the game to put Rockbridge (10-7) up early.
Keelan Guilliams converted a penalty kick for Staunton River (2-13) to tie it with two minutes to play in the first half.
Rockbridge scored four minutes into the second half as a cross deflected off a Staunton River player. Bent then scored an insurance goal with an assist going to Ely Spencer.
Javier Ramirez made four saves for Rockbridge and Michael Stump made eight saves for Staunton River.
RIVER RIDGE DISTRICT
Cave Spring 2, Pulaski County 0
Ben Cardenas and Matt Ketterer scored a goal each to lift the host Knights to a win over the Cougars.
Kyle Gunville assisted on Ketterer's goal and Adam Sledd made five saves for Cave Spring (11-6), which plays Salem in Wednesday's semifinals.
Chandler Quesenberry made five saves for Pulaski (2-14-1).
Tunstall 3, Patrick County 2
MARTINSVILLE - Jake Searcy scored the game-winning goal in the second half for Tunstall, which advanced to play top-seeded Bassett in today's district semifinals at Martinsville High School.
Patrick County got goals from Leonel Quiroz and Miguel Rodriguez.
Patrick County goalkeeper Christian Ruscelloni made five saves.
Jefferson Forest 9, Heritage 1
LYNCHBURG - Matthew Crider's five goals and two assists led the Cavaliers to a win over the Pioneers in the first round of the district tournament at Heritage High School.
Teddy Delledera added a goal and two assist for Jefferson Forest (12-2-3) and Ben Cavanaugh, Daniel Bryant and Aaron Crance scored a goal each.
Thomas Cavanaugh made two saves for the Cavaliers, who advance to play Brookville at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
MOUNTAIN EMPIRE DISTRICT
Fort Chiswell 5, Narrows 3
MAX MEADOWS - Zane Gregory's four goals lifted the Pioneers to a win over the Green Wave in the first round of the district tournament.
Matt Hart added a goal for Fort Chiswell (6-10), which plays top-seeded Galax in today's semifinals, and Joe Stoneman made eight saves.
Aaron Collins scored twice and Jordan McKinney added a goal and an assist for Narrows (0-14). Jackson Haymore added two assists and Frankie Kantsios made 10 saves for Narrows.
James River 7, Highland 0
BUCHANAN - Dylan Flint scored three times, and Sam Baker added two goals and an assist for the Knights (7-7).
Chase Haynes added a goal and an assist, while Corey Crawford also had a goal.
James River tallied 2 more assists from Jacob Carter and Jordan Aylor.
Cameron Bell recorded 7 saves for James River. Highland keeper Justin Sprouse made 20 saves.
BLUE RIDGE DISTRICT
Staunton River 10, Alleghany 1
MONETA - Taylor Tester scored four goals and tallied five assists - and broke the VHSL scoring streak record - as the Golden Eagles powered by the Mountaineers in the first round of the district tournament.
Tester scored for the 19th game in a row, breaking Bassett star Courtney Newman's 18-game mark in 2005.
Emily Hillman added three goals and two assists for Staunton River (11-3-1), while Mary Beth McCorkindale, Sarah Colo, and Madison Maxey scored a goal apiece.
Clair Seckner scored a goal and Mikayla Morgan made 12 stops for Alleghany (1-13).
Jaelyn Tuck made four saves for Staunton River.
Staunton River plays Lord Botetourt at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Northside.
William Byrd 4, Rockbridge County 0
Katie Abelseth scored a goal and added two assists as the host Terriers downed the Wildcats in the first round of the district tournament.
Taylor Gallagher, Nicole Olsen and Rachel Nicely scored a goal each for William Byrd (9-7) and Hannah Henley had four saves.
Marisol Tenorio made 11 saves for Rockbridge County.
Liberty 3, Rustburg 0
BEDFORD - Laura Garbarini scored twice to lift the Minettes to a win over the Red Devils in the first round of the district tournament.
Hannah Overstreet added a goal and Kiley Bartholomew assisted on a goal for Liberty (8-5-1) which plays E.C. Glass at 7 p.m. Wednesday at City Stadium in Lynchburg.
Abingdon 6, Carroll County 0
RICHLANDS - Lydia Billips scored three goals and Alyssa Gembach added two goals and an assist as the Falcons won a semifinal.
Grayson Barrs had a goal and an assist for Abingdon, which plays Richlands for the title.
REGION III TEAM TOURNAMENT
Harrisonburg 5, Northside 1
Fu Yang defeated Antoine Timbers at No. 1 singles, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Streaks swept the other matches and ended the Vikings' season.
