BASTIAN — Bland County rode a three-hit performance from Kalub Lambert on Saturday to down Rural Retreat 14-4 in six innings in the third-place baseball game of the Yo-Na Invitational.
Bland County, the host of the tournament since its inception four years ago, led 7-4 before erupting for seven runs in the sixth inning.
Mason Christian tripled to plate two runs for the Bears and crossed the plate to score the final run.
Zach Gwyn was credited with the win, and Austin Akers was on the mound for the loss.
Graham 7, Craig County 5
BASTIAN — Graham posted three-run innings in the third and fourth to rally from a 3-0 hole and beat Craig County in the fifth-place game Saturday.
Jacob Simpson earned the win for the G-Men and Josh Looney was tagged with the loss for the Rockets.

Terriers girls 3rd in Amherst meet
AMHERST — William Byrd’s girls placed third in the Amherst Invitational on Saturday with 45 points, followed closely by Northside at 41 points.
Armstrong (Richmond) won the girls meet with a score of 76, followed by E.C. Glass in second with 53 points.
Byrd’s Darby McPhail won the 3,200 with a time of 11 minutes, 48.37 seconds, and teamed with Ana Martha Lopez, Kate O’Connor and Autumn Vineyard to take the 3,200 relay in a time of 9:59.17. Vineyard also placed third in the high jump. Liberty’s Kennedy Flynn took first over Northside’s Courtney Rice in the 1,600 meters.
Aleah Keaton, Annie McGowan, Bonnie McGowan and Tierra Saunders led Northside to a top time of 49.50 in the 400 relay, ahead of third-place Liberty. Saunders edged Bonnie McGowan in the 400 for second place.
Staunton River’s Lily Garecht placed second in the pole vault and long jump, and third in the triple jump. Asia Brown (William Fleming) placed third in the long jump and Mikalah Jones (Liberty) claimed second in the triple jump.
William Fleming’s Latasha Williams won the shot put with a distance of 34 feet-11 inches and Liberty’s Nicole Smith placed second in the discus throw. Mya Brown (William Fleming) placed third in the 300 hurdles.
Fluvanna County won the boys meet with a score of 79, edging second-place Amherst by five points. Brookville finished third with 46 points. Staunton River finished fifth with 34 points.
William Byrd’s Marcellus Fletcher won the triple jump with a distance of 44-11 and Staunton River’s David Barrett won the 1,600 in 4:29.88 to highlight the men’s events. Craig Danner (Liberty) placed second in the 400 m and the high jump, with Franklin County’s Jalin Dudley taking third in the high jump. Staunton River’s Dalton Parker finished second in the 110 hurdles. Staunton River placed second in the 3,200 relay and William Byrd placed third in the 1,600 relay.
