Jason Lamanca had three hits and four RBIs to help North Cross to a 19-9 win over VES on Wednesday in a game that was called after six innings and delayed following a collision between two Raiders players that sent both to the hospital.
Jack Cranwell and Jonty Chimbara were taken to the hospital with head injuries after they ran into each other during the game. Both were treated and released, according to North Cross officials.
Matt Doughty had two hits and three RBIs, including a two-run triple for North Cross (5-4). Justin Jensen had two hits and three RBIs. Keith Oddo had a two-run triple.
Winning pitcher Justin Jensen allowed two hits and no earned runs over five innings. He also struck out four and walked two.
Chilhowie 10, Northwood 0, 5 inn.
CHILHOWIE - Caleb Sheets drove in three runs and turned in a dominant performance from the mound for Chilhowie in a five-inning win.
Tyler Pierce opened the game with a solo home run for Chilhowie (9-1, 2-0). Reid Sturgill, Forrest Haga and Sheets each had two hits and scored twice.
Sheets pitched five innings and allowed just one hit while striking out nine Northwood (1-3, 0-2) batters.
MOUNTAIN EMPIRE DISTRICT
Grayson County 10, Bland County 0, 5 inn.
INDEPENDENCE - Landon Frost and Dylan Isom drove in two runs each as Grayson County downed Bland County in five innings.
Frost finished with three hits and Lucas Rudy, Luke Wilson, Max Rodgers and Isom each had two hits for the Blue Devils (4-3, 1-0).
Matt Gwynn had two hits for Bland County (1-2, 0-1).
Rodgers earned the win with three hits and six strikeouts scattered over three innings.
Jefferson Forest 2, Liberty 1
FOREST - Cal Hodgert singled to bring in Zach Coleman in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Jefferson Forest the win.
Cameron Byrd drove in the first run of the game for James River (8-2, 3-0). Thomas Key registered the lone hit and scored for Liberty (1-6, 0-2).
Taylor Bell struck out 12 and allowed just one hit in a complete game win for Jefferson Forest. Will Grant gave up just three hits over 4 2/3 innings for Liberty.
Waynesboro 11, Rockbridge County 3
LEXINGTON - Waynesboro scored six runs on four errors in the top of the seventh inning to blow open a 5-3 game.
Jordan Anderson, Connor Jarvis and Matt Rowe had two hits each for Waynesboro (5-2).
Ryan Coale had a triple, stole a base and walked twice for Rockbridge (5-2). John Hepner had two hits and stole a base and Connor Staton swiped a pair of bags on the day for the Wildcats.
Brennan Lloyd earned the win in four innings of work. Trent Dudley also went four innings in the loss.
Auburn 10, Fort Chiswell 0, 5 inn.
RINER - Erik Gaynor pitched a complete game, giving up three hits, as Auburn beat Fort Chiswell in five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Gaynor also had two hits and three RBIs for the Eagles. Tanner Dehart had two hits and two RBIs. Brian Gresty had two hits, one run scored and one RBI as Auburn remained undefeated (6-0).
Levi Mooney, Chase Rathbone and Tyler Marinas each had singles for Fort Chiswell (3-3).
Galax 21, Pulaski County 19
DUBLIN - Galax scored nine runs in the top of the seventh to rally.
Caleb Pack earned the win for Galax (2-6) with two innings of relief.
J.D. Suthphin hit a two-run home run and tallied four RBIs for Pulaski County (5-2).
George Wythe 13, Rural Retreat 3
WYTHEVILLE - Jacob Collins had three hits and three RBIs to lead George Wythe (1-8) to a win.
Paul Stanley had two hits and two RBIs and Josh Crigger had one hit and two RBIs for the Maroons.
Dallas Shumate had two hits and an RBI and Jackson Sowers had one hit and one RBI for the Indians (2-3).
Riverheads 7, Parry McCluer 1
BUENA VISTA - Riverheads (4-1) scored five times in the sixth inning to break open a one-run game.
Gunner Beverley had an RBI single for Parry McCluer (2-4), and Sam Armstrong had three hits.
Alleghany 13, Greenbrier East, W.Va. 6
LEWISBURG, W.Va. - Kendall Kessinger had two hits and two RBIs, and winning pitcher Mark Hendricks helped his own cause with two hits to lead the Mountaineers (8-0).
Hendricks struck out six, allowed four hits, two runs and gave up two walks over three innings.
Northside 12, Hidden Valley 10
Lucas Nowlin's three-RBI day led host Northside to a win over Hidden Valley.
Northside (6-3) led 12-2 in the top of the fifth, but Johnathan Richmond hit a two-run single to extend the game for Hidden Valley (6-3). The Titans tacked on three in each of the sixth and seventh innings to cut the deficit to two.
With runners on second and third, Brett Luck earned a strikeout to end the game.
Chad Frazier led Hidden Valley with three RBIs and four runs scored.
Tray Bayse pitched four innings and allowed two runs on two hits for the win. Ryan Lauria gave up four runs on four hits over 2 2/3 innings in the loss.
Northside 3, Hidden Valley 2
Charles Krizner and Sam Krizner both scored first-half goals, and Northside went on to its first win of the season.
Trey Noell also scored for the Vikings (1-4-1), and Bryce Wilson had two assists.
Ian Kemp scored both goals for Hidden Valley (3-2-1).
Zach Large made seven saves for Northside.
Monticello 2, Rockbridge County 1
CHARLOTTESVILLE - Kevin Gomez scored his second goal in the 54th minute and Monticello (2-2-1) held off the Wildcats.
Eli Spencer scored for Rockbridge County (3-2) off of an assist from Miles Bent in the 44th minute to tie the score.
Clay Penney made seven saves for the Wildcats.
Staunton River 2, James River 0
BUCHANAN - Keelan Guilliams scored a pair of goals to give Staunton River the win.
David Stump had 12 saves for Staunton River (2-1), which led 2-0 at the half.
Cameron Bell made 22 saves for James River (0-7).
Radford 2, Christiansburg 1
CHRISTIANSBURG - Radford's Caleb Findley scored in the 75th minuted to give the Bobcats a win.
Jake Grant also scored for undefeated Radford (4-0).
Jake Hamley had the goal for Christiansburg (2-3-1).

BUCHANAN - Taylor Tester scored four of the five Staunton River goals.
Emily Hillman scored for the Golden Eagles (4-0). Keeper Katie Edmonston had six saves.
Valentina Eonnini scored two goals for James River (4-3) and Kendall Moyer scored one.
Lord Botetourt 2, Patrick Henry 1
Hannah Stewart scored twice for Lord Botetourt (3-1) and the Cavaliers defeated Patrick Henry.

RADFORD - Alley Chamberlain and Hannah Duff scored a goal each for Christiansburg.
Kady Cox and Shannon Stuart assisted on the goals for Christiansburg (3-1), which led 1-0 at the half.
Taylor Beaubrez and Kaylee Taylor combined for five saves for Christiansburg.
Amanda Joyce made eight saves for Radford (4-2).
Northwood 5, Chilhowie 4
CHILHOWIE - Northwood scored two runs on four Chilhowie errors and slipped past Chilhowie.
Makalya Carter led Northwood (1-3, 1-1) with three hits and Cassidy Hayden and Brooke Hagan added two hits apiece.
Mary Luttrell, Ellen Vance and Emily Henninger tallied two hits each for Chilhowie (3-5, 1-1).
Carter earned the win with five strikeouts over seven innings. Kiki Murphy was tagged with the loss, striking out four over seven innings.
Liberty 6, Jefferson Forest 0
FOREST - Cassidy Hensley had eight strikeouts, allowed two hits and walked none to earn the win as Jefferson Forest defeated Liberty.
Kim Sharrett had three of Liberty's 11 hits, scored two runs and had four stolen bases. MaHalea Scicchitano had two hits, one run scored and two RBIs. Allyson Crockett had two hits and two RBIs for undefeated Liberty (9-0, 3-0).
Jeanine Minnick and Anna Pfister each had one hit for Jefferson Forest (1-2, 0-1).

HOT SPRINGS - Heather Mayes had three hits and drove in four runs as Alleghany defeated Bath County in five innings.
Catie Carpenter had three RBIs and Samantha Fridley scored three times for Alleghany (7-0).

Ruthie Williams hit a three-run double, Taylor Grubb added an RBI double in the Vikings' four-run third inning, and that turned out to be the difference in the game.

Courtney Cooper had two hits for Cave Spring (6-3). Knights pitcher Taylor Asimakopoulos struck out seven, walked four and allowed five hits.

INDEPENDENCE - Karyl Morris drove in two runs as Grayson County earned a win at home.
Brady Cassell added an RBI and two hits for Grayson (5-2). Morris and Claire Circle each had two hits.

Sarah Eller struck out five and allowed five hits over seven innings for the win.

DALEVILLE - Kaylynn Wilhelm drove in three runs on two hits to give Lord Botetourt a win.
Kristen Toppel had two hits and an RBI and Skylar Dull tallied three hits for the Cavaliers (6-2).
Hailey Porth led Blacksburg (3-2) with two hits.
Brooke Trapazono earned the win with eight hits and six strikeouts scattered over seven innings.

ELLISTON - Chloe Phoenix had an in the park home run and three RBIs for the Mustangs.
On the mound for Eastern Montgomery (3-4) pitcher Tayler Lewis had seven strikeouts.
Amber Christey had one hit and struck out six for Fort Chiswell (0-2). Abby Burris had three hits and Chasidy Porter scored two runs.
Carroll County 4, Pulaski County 1
HILLSVILLE - Regan Hasley drove in two runs on two hits as Carroll County earned a home win.
Eden Durnil drove in a run and had three hits for the Cavaliers (4-2).
Courtney Belville drove in the run for Pulaski (3-4).
Gracie Davidson earned the win for Carroll, scattering nine hits over seven innings and striking out three.
Glenvar 9, Christiansburg 6
CHRISTIANSBURG - Cara Neikirk and Sarah Mullins combined to hold Christiansburg to six hits in Glenvar's win.
O.C. Ward and Haley Green had two hits each for the Highlanders (8-1). Christina Poole had two hits to lead Christiansburg (3-3), which committed six errors.
Christiansburg's Tiffany Brown struck out 14 batters.
William Byrd 4, Salem 2
Spencer Biggs and Amber Ewers had two hits apiece for the Terriers (3-4).
Amber Ewers struck out five over seven innings for William Byrd (3-4).

BUCHANAN - Bayard Stevens struck out 10, walked none and allowed three hits in a game called after five innings on Tuesday because of the 10-run rule.
Justin Steebers had three hits, an RBI and two stolen bases for the Knights. Hunter Thompson had two hits and an RBI, and Daniel Richman had a hit and RBI for James River (3-6, 1-0 Pioneer District).
Jonah Ford had two hits and an RBI, and Michael Chriser doubled and scored for Bath County (0-2, 0-2).
Patrick Henry 20, Hidden Valley 2
Thomas Vance and Sam Boxley combined to score seven goals and six other Patrick Henry players each scored twice as the Patriots blew out the Titans.
Boxley scored four goals and Vance added three goals and four assists for PH (3-2). Scoring twice each were Joseph Clifton, Blake Anderson, Christian Blackwell, Will Adams, Lucas Kennedy, and Josh Pecaric each scored twice while combining for five assists.
Hidden Valley (0-4) got goals from J.T. Meyer and Massi Flici.

Miguel Parra scored a first-half goal and had an assist to Kevin Hernandez in the second half as the Colonels won their Western Valley District opener.

STUART - Misea Sanchez scored two goals in the first 10 minutes and added a third just before halftime as the Bengals (3-2-1, 1-0-0) won their Piedmont District opener.
Austin Mabe scored for Patrick County (2-1-1, 0-1-0).
Glenvar 2, Parry McCluer 1
Colin Newton's cross into the box was tapped in by Ben Sherer with 15 minutes to play in the game to give host Glenvar the win.
Jordy Gibbons opened the scoring for Parry McCluer (0-3) by converting a penalty kick just 10 minutes in.
Newton scored the tying goal for Glenvar (3-0-2), assisted by Evan Webb, with 30 minutes passed in the first half.
Cory Thompson made two stops for Glenvar.
Northside 2, William Byrd 0
Emma Wade had both goals for the Vikings as they defeated the visiting Terriers for a Blue Ridge District victory.
Emily Rawlings and McKinsey Payne both had assists for Northside (2-2-1, 1-0). Keeper Kelsey Altizer had a shutout performance for the match, recording six saves.
Morgan Spangler had seven saves for William Byrd (4-2, 0-1).
