Timesland Player of the Year - defense

Jake Kite | Hidden Valley | Senior safety

Kite, 6-1, 188, played the entire 2012 season with a painful dislocated shoulder and a torn labrum, but the injuries did not stop him from earning Region IV defensive player of the year honors. His shoulder popped out of joint three times during the season, forcing him to miss a total of just six plays. Kite finished with 86 solo tackles and 10 tackles for loss, along with six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Kite also caught 33 passes and had five touchdowns at wide receiver. He made first-team All-Region IV as a kick returner, taking back a kickoff for a TD vs. Pulaski County and a punt return for a score against Christiansburg. Kite signed with Duke.
