Timesland Swimmer of the Year

LEAH PIEMONTE | CHRISTIANSBURG | Senior

PIEMONTE captured her fourth Group AA state championship and broke the state record in the process. Piemonte, coached by her mother in high school, has signed a letter of intent with Virginia Tech, where her father coaches the men's and women's divers.

FIRST TEAM

CLAIRE ADKINS | CARLISLE | Senior

Repeat first-teamer Adkins claimed her first state championship, cutting three seconds off her best time and moving up from second in the preliminaries to capture the 200 freestyle at the independent schools' state meet.

HAILEY BIVENS | CAVE SPRING | Junior

A second-team choice in 2012 who this year posted the best time in the 100 freestyle (52.55) and had a total of four top-five Times in Timesland.

LAUREN COWHER | CAVE SPRING | Junior

Joined with teammates Maggie Harman, Hailey Bivens and Tessa Muzzy on record-breaking, state-championship 200 freestyle relay teams and had second-best time in Timesland in 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

MAGGIE HARMAN | CAVE SPRING | Sophomore

Harman's lead-off leg on the Knights' Group AA state championship 200 freestyle relay was the fastest 50 in Timesland this year (23.99) and she also had the top time in the 200 in making first-team All-Timesland for the second straight year.

ANNIE LANE | WILLIAM BYRD | Junior

Another repeat first-team choice who matched Harman as the only Timesland girls' swimmer to have the top time in two events, the 200 individual medley and the 100 breatstroke.

JORDAN MORLING | PATRICK HENRY | Freshman

Had the best time in the 100 backstroke (57.02) and was second overall in the 200 individual medley. Also a major relay contributor.

CAITLIN PRIVOTT | PATRICK HENRY | Sophomore

Had five top-10 times, the best of which was a second in Timesland in the 100 backstroke. Had three top-five times.

OLIVIA STANLEY | PATRICK HENRY | Freshman

Posted the top time in Timesland in the 100-yard butterfly (58.39) and also swam the anchor leg on the Patriots' 400-yard freestyle relay, which was tops in Timesland.

COACH OF THE YEAR

ERIK LARGEN | Patrick Henry

In his second year as the Patriots' head coach, Largen took a team that hadn't sent a single representative to the Group AAA state meet into a team that finished 14th out of 49 teams that scored points in this year's meet. PH's girls won the Timesland
Invitational and finished first among Virginia teams in the Southwest Invitational.
