BASEBALL

Hidden Valley 12, Patrick Henry 0, 5 inn.

Nick Ratliff had three hits and seven RBIs to lead the Titans over the Patriots in a game that was called after five innings after the 10-run rule.

Teammate Jack Moore added three hits for Hidden Valley. Pitcher Ryan Lauria struck out three, but only gave up two hits and walked three.

Jake Wright had a single for Patrick Henry.

SOFTBALL

NONDISTRICT

Grayson County 10, Carroll County 6

INDEPENDENCE — Sarah Eller pitched 5 1⁄3 innings, allowing four runs and striking out three to go along with four hits and two RBIs, as the Blue Devils beat the Cavaliers in the season opener for both teams.

Brady Cassell had three hits and three RBIs and Rachel Burris clocked a two-run home run for Grayson County.

Autumn Hill led Carroll County with a solo home run and two RBIs.

Cave Spring 3, William Byrd 0

Taylor Asimakopoulos struck out eight and allowed just two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings for Cave Spring (1-0) on Monday.

Courtney Cooper and Abby Beatty added solo home runs for the Knights.

Spencer Biggs allowed seven hits and two earned runs over six innings for the Terriers (0-1).

BOYS SOCCER

NONDISTRICT

Patrick Henry 1, Deep Run 0

Sam LoDebole provided the lone goal as Patrick Henry (1-0) edged Deep Run (0-1) to open the season.

With 60 minutes elapsed, Emmanuel Scere headed a free kick to the far post, where LoDebole finished.

Christian Paget made four saves in goal for the Patriots.

Tazewell 7, Fort Chiswell 2

MAX MEADOWS — Carter Rasnick scored four goals and Cody McCann added three as Tazewell (1-0) downed Fort Chiswell (0-1)

Michael Arnold scored a pair of goals for Fort Chiswell, with Danny Eversole earning an assist.

Nick Lampkins made 23 saves for Fort Chiswell.

GIRLS SOCCER

NONDISTRICT

North Cross 3, Roanoke Catholic 0

North Cross (1-0) scored a trio of second-half goals to earn a win over host Roanoke Catholic (0-1).

Sara Maurer, India Helmer and Paxton Helmer scored for North Cross.

Maurer and Gussie Revercomb split time in net for North Cross and stopped four shots. Hannah Tudor made 10 saves in net for Catholic.

BOYS LACROSSE

NONDISTRICT

Salem 22, Hidden Valley 3

Phillip Robertson had five goals and one assist for the Spartans.

Teammate and brother Joe Robertson had three goals and five assists for Salem. Chad Fisher and Connor Sampson both had four goals and two assists.

Evans Pierce made four saves.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NONDISTRICT

South County 20, William Fleming 4

Eight different players scored to give the South County club team a win over host William Fleming (0-1).

Sarah Lowen led with five goals and Catherine Cullum tallied four goals for South County. Tia Brown and Aniah Franklin scored two goals each for William Fleming.
