Timesland athletes lauded by coaches

Five Timesland players including two each from Glenvar and Fort Chiswell have earned first-team honors on the All-Group A baseball team selected by the Virginia High School Coaches Association.
Shortstop Anthony Ratliff and outfielder Eddy Kasper represent Glenvar. Second baseman Hody Viars and outfielder Parker Mabe made the team from Fort Chiswell. Covington first baseman Michael Myers also made the first team.
Outfielder Andrew Tucker of James River made the second team.
Catcher Josh Hall of Group A champion Rappahannock was named player of the year. Rappahannock's Larry Barker was chosen coach of the year.
All-Group AA
Two players each from Cave Spring and state semifinalist Jefferson Forest have been selected to the first team on the VHSCA All-Group AA squad.
Catcher Nathan Wimmer and utility player Steve Klaiber made the team from Cave Spring, while pitcher Erik Heiligenstadt and third baseman Bryan Sanderson represent Jefferson Forest.
Second-team picks included second baseman Brian Kluge of Cave Spring and third baseman Logan Blankenbeckler of Hidden Valley.
Poquoson pitcher Kyle Crockett was named player of the year, while Poquoson's Kenny Bennett was the coach of the year.

All-Group AAA
Cameron Chavira of Patrick Henry has been named to the first team on the All-Group AAA boys soccer team selected by the Virginia High School Coaches Association.
Chavira, a Virginia signee, set PH's single-season and career records for goals scored.
Ryan Oakes of Frank Cox was chosen as the player of the year. Battlefield's Ott Pimasen was named coach of the year.
All-Group AA
Five Timesland players including Region IV co-players of the year Johnny Hughes of Salem and Zach Corcoran of Martinsville have been named to the VHSCA All-Group AA first team.
Hughes and Corcoran are joined on the first team by Tyler Farrar of Alleghany, Lucas Webb of Carroll County and Torre Swope of Hidden Valley.
Second-team picks from Timesland were Stanton Coman of Lord Botetourt, Garrett Van Nutt of Martinsville, Matt Chitwood of Bassett and Ben Radford of Hidden Valley.
Shelley Blumenthal of Group AA champion Blacksburg was named coach of the year, while Jamestown's Patrick O'Brien was selected player of the year.
