STAUNTON RIVER DEF. STUARTS DRAFT 25-12, 25-17, 25-14.
STUARTS DRAFT -- Staunton River defeated Stuarts Draft in swift fashion to advance to the tournament quarterfinals where the Golden Eagles will face Jefferson Forest today.
Staunton River (12-10) built momentum in the first game and carried it into the second where Allison Shrewsbury led the way with six kills and the game-winning point came on a block by Chelsea Eary. In the third game, a 7-2 Golden Eagles run pushed the lead to 15-9 and an 8-0 Staunton River run followed soon after to pretty much tie up the match.
Danielle Wilson had four kills for the Cougars and Caroline Campbell contributed 17 digs.
Turner Ashby def. Liberty 25-16, 25-19, 25-11.
DAYTON -- Sara Ritchie had 15 kills and 12 digs as the Knights ended the Minettes' season in a first-round match.
