Talbott, Knights clinch Region C playoff berth
BUCHANAN -- Jordan Talbott completed 11 of 16 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns as James River clinched the Pioneer District title and a Region C Division 2 playoff berth with a 41-7 win over Craig County on Friday.
Jeff Johnson caught five passes for 139 yards and two TDs for James River (5-5, 4-0). Ian Johnson ran for two TDs.
Craig County (2-8, 1-3) was held to 64 yards of total offense.

LOW MOOR -- Derrick Palmer scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with less than 30 seconds remaining and threw to Seth Webb for the winning two-point conversion to give the Vikings (5-5, 2-2 Blue Ridge District) a playoff spot.
The Vikings earned the No. 6 seed in the Region III Division 4 playoffs instead of Jefferson Forest, which lost Friday to lose its shot at the postseason.
Palmer ran for three touchdowns.
Seth Bradley rushed for 102 yards and two TDs and threw for 120 yards and one TD for Alleghany (6-4, 1-3). Phillip Lewis added 81 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries for the Mountaineers.

INDEPENDENCE -- Chris Rodriguez rushed for 159 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries to help the Pioneers capture their first Region C playoff berth since 1990, ending Timesland's longest postseason drought.
Will Freeman completed six of eight passes for 107 yards and also ran for a TD for Fort Chiswell (9-1, 4-0), which claimed the Mountain Empire District title.
Omar Laretta ran for 66 yards on 14 carries for Grayson County (3-7, 3-1).
