EastMont rallies for win

ELLISTON -- Michael Shelor ran for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to give Eastern Montgomery a 44-35 comeback win over Glenvar on Friday.

Glenvar (6-3, 1-3 Three Rivers District) led 35-28 entering the fourth. Early in the fourth, Shelor scored on a 3-yard run and Shawn Christian threw for the 2-point conversion to give EastMont a 36-35 lead.

Shelor rushed for 141 yards and three TDs on 18 carries for the Mustangs (7-2, 2-2).

Christian completed 16 of 27 passes for 150 yards and two TDs with two interceptions.

Zach Hill rushed for 133 yards and three TDs on 28 carries for Glenvar.

RADFORD -- D.J. Palmer scored two rushing touchdowns and took a punt return 40 yards to the end zone for the Bobcats.

Palmer finished with 70 yards on the ground for Radford (6-3, 4-0), which clinched at least a share of the Three Rivers District title.

The Eagles (1-8, 0-4) had six turnovers, including interceptions on their only two pass attempts of the game.

DRY FORK -- Marquill Eggleston returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to lift the Bulldogs (2-7, 1-2) to the Piedmont District win.

Trailing 6-0 in the fourth, Tunstall (3-7, 0-4) went ahead on Justin Williams' 45-yard touchdown run.

After the Eggleston return, Martinsville tackled the Tunstall punter in the end zone to cap the game's scoring.

Colin Welch kicked two field goals for Martinsville.

MARTINSVILLE -- Chris Graves had a 77-yard run for a touchdown and rushed for 132 yards on 14 carries in a losing effort.

Tyshawn Mitchell threw two touchdown passes for Carlisle (2-7) and completed 12 of 20 passes.

Eldrick Gunter had five catches for 85 yards and one TD for Carlisle.

AMHERST -- Mario Vaughn ran for 86 yards and two TDs on six carries to lead the Lancers (9-0, 5-0) to a Seminole District win over the Cavaliers (6-3, 3-2).

HILLSVILLE -- Richlands (8-1, 5-0) took over sole possession of first place in the Southwest District with a victory over the host Cavaliers (6-3, 4-1).

Cody Johnson ran for 73 yards and one TD and threw for 64 yards for Richlands.

Ulysses Moreno ran for 60 yards and one TD for the Cavaliers.

Blake Bowman ran for a TD for the Cavaliers but was picked off three times.

DUBLIN -- Terrence Travis rushed for one touchdown and threw for another to lead the Bruins (3-6, 1-3) to a River Ridge District victory.

The win keeps the Bruins alive in the Region IV District 4 playoff race.

Travis finished with 150 yards on 17 carries and also went 4-for-9 for 125 yards. Chris Garner rushed for two touchdowns for Blacksburg.

The Bruins ran for 295 yards..

Matt Saunders kicked a 30-yard field goal for Pulaski (2-7, 0-4).

Christian Akers scored Roanoke Catholic's lone touchdown of the game on a 16-yard pass from Joey Williams. Matt Moats caught four passes for 93 yards.

The Cougars won despite the absence of QB Jacob Reynolds, who suffered a head injury in last week's game and will be out two more weeks. The Cougars snapped the ball directly to the running back Friday.
