BRISTOL -- Marion's Melanie Rice continued her comeback by claiming the girls title with a time of 19 minutes, 7 seconds at Sugar Hollow Park.

George Tolson won the boys meet in 16:43. Abingdon swept both team titles by decisive margins over Marion.

Carroll County's Kendall Haynes earned an individual berth into the Nov. 6 Region IV boys meet, while Felicia Combs will represent the Cavaliers in the regional girls race.

DANVILLE -- Patrick County swept both team titles, while Martinsville's Garrett Van Nutt won the boys race and Bassett's Michelle Church took the girls crown at Dan Daniel Park.

Church outran Bassett teammate Baylee Mabe to win the girls race.

Patrick County, Martinsville, Bassett and Magna Vista earned boys team berths in the Region IV meet. Patrick County, Bassett, Magna Vista and Tunstall qualified in the girls meet.

Liz Brailsford led Patrick Henry (13-7, 8-0) to the win over William Fleming to win the Western Valley regular-season title.

Sarah Miller added eight kills and Carolyn Brailsford 26 assists for the Patriots.

Franklin County def. George Washington 25-6, 25-12, 25-16.

DANVILLE -- Jordan Templin had 10 kills for Franklin County (10-10, 6-2). Kristen Bowling added 10 assists and seven kills, while Ashley Searing tallied 11 assists, three service aces, and two kills.

Samantha Washburn finished with seven digs for the Eagles.

River Ridge District

Salem def. Pulaski County 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.

DUBLIN -- Emily Richardson had 12 kills and four blocks, and Sidney Clinevell finished with eight kills and, 16 digs to lead the Spartans (6-14, 1-9).

Pioneer District

James River def. Covington 25-14, 25-21, 25-14.

BUCHANAN -- Maribeth Kern tallied 14 kills, seven digs and three aces for James River (13-7, 7-3).

Taylor Statome added 22 assists, six digs, and two aces.

Blue Ridge Conference

Eastern Mennonite def. North Cross 25-8, 25-16, 25-17.

North Cross was swept in three games by Eastern Mennonite in the semifinals of the Blue Ridge Conference tournament.

Sarah Jessee had nine assists for the Raiders and Marli Dabareiner had four kills.

Southwest District

Carroll County def. Tazewell 25-18, 27-25, 25-21.

HILLSVILLE -- Sarah Singleton had 10 kills, 20 service points and two aces to lead the Cavaliers, who completed an unbeaten district slate.

Honesty Rogers added 15 digs for Carroll County (19-1, 12-0). Dionna Reece had 10 kills and Jessi Goad had 17 kills.
