Bowyer's big night lifts Minutemen

FOREST -- Liberty's Tyler Bowyer scored three second-half touchdowns, including the game-winner with 20 seconds remaining, to lift the visiting Minutemen past Jefferson Forest 28-21 in Seminole District action on Friday night.

The Liberty quarterback finished with 57 rushing yards and 68 passing yards to help the Minutemen overcome a tough start.

Anthony Reynolds also scored for Liberty (7-3, 3-1).

Jefferson Forest, with the help of four Liberty turnovers, led 21-1 early in the third quarter, but surrendered three unanswered TDs after that.

Rashad Hall rushed for 170 yards on 37 carries for the Cavaliers (4-3, 2-1).

Alleghany 27, Lord Botetourt 16

LOW MOOR -- Seth Bradley totaled 163 rushing yards on 17 carries to lead the host Mountaineers (6-2, 1-1) in a Blue Ridge District game.

Phillip Lewis added 121 yards on 17 carries for Alleghany.

Bradley found the end zone three times on runs of 6, 2 and 5 yards. Lewis scored on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Will Cline of Lord Botetourt completed 16 of 24 passes for 163 yards.

The Cavaliers fell to 2-6 and 0-2 in district play.

Narrows 14, Bland County 12

NARROWS -- The Green Wave's Wyatt Robertson sacked Bland County quarterback Dylan Kidd on a 2-point conversion with under three minutes to play, and Narrows (3-4, 1-0) held off the Bears (2-6, 0-2) in Mountain Empire District play.

Narrows had taken the lead on an 80-yard TD pass from Brock Lusk to Hunter Light with about 10 minutes to play in the game.

Bland County scored to make it 14-12 on a 7-yard run by Jacob Lambert. But the Bears could not convert the extra point.

Lambert had 86 yards on 21 carries for Bland, and Kidd ran for 63 yards on 12 carries, while passing for another 59.

Ryan Dunford rushed for 73 yards on 15 carries for Narrows.

Tommy Roach led the host Highlanders (6-1, 1-1 Three Rivers District) with 75 rushing yards and a TD on three carries.

Phillip Tarpley amassed 66 yards, and Zach Hill ran for 55 for Glenvar, which led 34-0 at the half.

Glenvar finished with 285 total yards compared to 67 for the Eagles (1-6, 0-2).

Taylor also ran for 91 yards and three scores.

Tyler Davis finished with four catches for 102 yards and a touchdown.

Keifer Mosley led the Warriors' defense, picking off two passes.

GLADE SPRING -- The visiting Maroons (4-3, 2-0) took a 13-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a Hogoheegee District victory.

The Maroons totaled 393 rushing yards and 58 passing yards. Brandon Atwell scored on runs of 83 and 13 yards for the Maroons.

Pratt, who completed 13 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns, also ran for 98 yards and a pair of scores.

Ethan Hash scored the Indians' lone touchdown on a nine-yard pass from Zayne Williams.

Carroll County managed just 140 yards total offense, but got help from a Tyler Reavis' 22-yard interception return for a TD in the second quarter.

David Rivero led Marion (5-2, 2-2) with seven carries for 93 yards.

Matt Noe finished 10-for-19 passing for 108 yards and TD.

Zach Ewen of James River converted all four of his extra-point attempts and booted field goals of 27 and 26 yards, respectively.

Covington falls to 3-4 and 0-2 in the district.

Shaq Finney, who caught the game-winning TD pass for Bassett, rushed for 40 yards and had 66 receiving yards.

Maples finished 7-of-15 for 121 yards.

Martinsville had 75 of its 151 yards total offense in the fourth quarter.
