High school basketball roundup
MAX MEADOWS -- Nathan Vaughn scored a game-high 29 points to help the Auburn boys basketball team beat Fort Chiswell 77-62 on Friday and advance in the first round of the Wythe County Christmas Tournament at Fort Chiswell High School.
Brandon Musick added 23 points for the Eagles, who used a strong third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Hody Viars scored 15 points and Andrew White pitched in 12 to lead Fort Chiswell.
The Eagles will face Floyd County next, while Fort Chiswell will meet Carroll County.

Tucker Crawford had 14 points, Brett Holman 11 and Nathan Coartney 10 for Floyd County. Tyler Reavis led Carroll County with 16 points. James Lanning had 13.
