EastMont rolls over Auburn

RINER -- Brad Wooten picked off three passes and scored three touchdowns to lead Eastern Montgomery (4-2, 1-0) to a 26-0 Three Rivers District win over Auburn on Friday.

Wooten picked off a pass at the EM 1 and returned it 98 yards to the Auburn 1, where he was stripped of the ball. But he recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown.

Wooten also caught two TD passes from Shawn Christian.

Auburn (2-4, 0-1) was picked off five times and was held to 166 yards of total offense.

LEXINGTON -- Rockbridge County survived a late comeback attempt from Spotswood for a hard-earned victory.

Brittigan Coffey returned an interception 48 yards for a score late in the second quarter that proved to be the difference in the game.

Jaqwan Biggs scored on an 81-yard touchdown run in the first quarter but carried the ball only once more the rest of the night.

The Trailblazers started their final possession on their own 20-yard line with a minute to go, but could not move the ball any closer to come up short.

BROOKVILLE -- Stacey Houston carried the ball 28 times for 177 yards, and also scored three touchdowns to lead the Bees to a Seminole District victory.

Logan Thomas completed 10 of 11 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown for Brookville (8-0, 4-0), which entered the game holding the top ranking in The Associated Press Virginia Group AA poll.

Thomas Clark ran for 93 yards on 10 carries to lead the Minutemen (5-2, 2-1) offensively.

Blake Bowman threw a 28-yard TD pass to Dillon Caviness to cut Marion's lead to 15-13 with 1:09 left. Cody Mabe tried to run it in for a 2-point conversion but was stopped short of the goal line.

Bowman completed five of nine passes for 119 yards for Carroll County (3-4, 1-2).
