Eagles defeat GW
DANVILLE -- Justin Seay ran for 203 yards and two TDs to lead the Franklin County football team to a 28-26 win over George Washington on Friday night in the Western Valley District opener for both teams.
Franklin County (2-3, 1-0) trailed 13-0 after one quarter, but a pair of second-quarter TDs -- including a 19-yard scoring pass from Aaron Corn to Thad Basham with 2 seconds to play in the first half -- gave Franklin County a 14-13 lead. Franklin County never trailed again.
GW, which had two extra-point attempts blocked in the game, got to within 28-26 with 5:55 to play, but Franklin County ran most of the remaining time off with a long drive that ended when it turned the ball over on downs on the GW 3 with 43 seconds to play.

Braden Coleman ran for 117 yards and two TDs on 18 carries for Abingdon (2-4, 0-3).

MONETA -- Skyler Keene rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries to lead the Mountaineers over the Golden Eagles.
Cody Jones rushed for 84 yards on 18 carries and competed seven of 14 passes for 75 yards for the Golden Eagles (0-6), who lost their 20th straight games. The defense of Alleghany (3-3) has allowed only 14 points in the last 12 quarters.

Rusty Williams ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries to lead the Blue Devils (0-6).

COVINGTON -- Pickle Nuckols scored five touchdowns while running for 214 yards to lead the Bison (5-0) to a big win. Buffalo Gap scored all 49 of its points in the first half, and the Bison also held Covington to 57 yards rushing for the game. Preston Waddell scored the lone touchdown for the Cougars (0-6), recovering a second-quarter fumble in the end zone.

Josh Woody threw for two touchdowns and ran for another for the Fighting Blues (1-5). Terry Isaia ran for 80 yards and a TD on nine carries for Parry McCluer.
The Fighting Blues were plagued by turnovers, throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble.

Jordan Talbott completed 22 of 43 passes for 179 yards and a score for the Knights (2-4). DaVon Ross had 11 catches for 120 yards and one TD for James River.
