Alleghany still perfect

COVINGTON -- Josh Jordan tossed a no-hitter and struck out eight to lead the Alleghany baseball team to a 12-0, five-inning win over Covington on Monday.

Steven Keener blasted a two-run home run and Ryan Kessinger was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Mountaineers (7-0).

Glenvar 11, Parry McCluer 0, 5 innings

Freshman Cam Holfhouser tossed a no-hitter and struck out nine in his varsity debut for Glenvar (5-1).

Kyle Horne, Dale Waldron and Anthony Ratliff each had two hits and two RBIs for the Highlanders.

Northside 8, Christiansburg 1

Matt Slough tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering three hits to lead the Vikings.

Blake Thornburg was 4-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run, and totaled three RBIs.

Wes Bond was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored for Christiansburg (4-4).

Chad Jarrett was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Northside (5-2).

Narrows 9, James Monroe 3

LINDSIDE, W.Va. -- Jake Craft went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a home run and Mark Martin went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead Narrows (5-4).

Gage Dent earned the win, allowing four hits over five innings and striking out nine.

Giles 10, Galax 2

PEARISBURG -- Lindsay Meredith went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and five RBIs to lead Giles (5-3).

Kathryn Stump went 2-for-4 as the Spartans scored nine runs over the third and fourth innings.

Janisa Lawson went 2-for-3 to lead Galax.

Glenvar 10, William Byrd 2

Kelley Knoebel had two triples and scored two runs to lead the host Highlanders.

Sarah Ashby and Jamie Green each went 2-for-3 with a double for William Byrd (5-2).

Meredith Buckley was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Glenvar (4-2).

Cave Spring 1-3, Tunstall 0-0

DRY FORK -- Sarah Mitchell pitched all five innings, allowing four hits and striking out four to lead the Knights.

Courtney Gaddy knocked in the only run of the game with two outs in the second inning when she singled in Olivia Ferguson.

Alea Bier was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead Cave Spring (6-2) in the second game.

Courtney Cooper scored two runs for the Knights and Mitchell pitched all five innings to pick up the win.

Radford 8-11, Fort Chiswell 5-1

RADFORD -- Nikki Tibbs was 2-for-3 with a two-run triple and two runs scored to lead Radford.

Kendra Biers had an RBI single for Fort Chiswell.

Katelyn Melton pitched all five innings, allowing only two hits and striking out four for Radford (4-4) in the second-game victory.

Ashley Phipps had an RBI double and a three-run home run for the Bobcats.

Christina Shockley had an RBI single for Fort Chiswell.

Parry McCluer 4, Buffalo Gap 1

SWOOPE, Va. -- Emily Ferguson tossed a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and allowed no walks.

Keston Beverley hit a two-run double in the third with two outs to break the game open for Parry McCluer (6-3).

Sara Harmon scored twice for the Fighting Blues.

Hogoheegee District

George Wythe 15, Rural Retreat 0

WYTHEVILLE -- Makenzie Kirk was 4-for-4 with seven RBIs to lead the Maroons.

Julie Compton was 2-for-2 with an RBI and four runs scored, and Retta Jackson pitched a two-hitter and added two hits for George Wythe (2-2, 1-0).

Rural Retreat falls to 0-4, 0-1 in the district.

Three Rivers District

Auburn 6, Floyd County 4

RINER -- The Eagles (7-0, 1-0) opened their district schedule with a win spearheaded by Damian Qipo's three goals and an assist.

Brothers Eric and Aurelio Limon each had a goal and an assist for Auburn. Jordan Seltz also scored a goal.

Cameron Quesenberry made nine saves.

Giles 2, Glenvar 0

PEARISBURG -- Andrew Frazier and Travis Scott each notched a goal for Giles (4-1-2).

Goalie Garrison Ellis stopped all 16 shots from Glenvar (1-1).

Seminole District

Jefferson Forest 10, Rustburg 0

RUSTBURG -- Ian Case scored four goals as the Cavaliers rolled on the road.

Timothy Bullock added two goals and an assist for JF (3-1, 2-0), which also got a goal and two assists from Andrew Dempsey.

Radford 4, Virginia High 0

BRISTOL -- Lukas Findley scored two goals as the Bobcats won on the road.

Alex Khandan-Barani had a goal and an assist for Radford (3-0), and Nao Masuda scored the other goal.

Patrick Henry 2, William Byrd 1

Fayanga Keito scored with about two minutes remaining to break a 1-1 tie and give the Patriots a home win.

Keito also had an assist on Malik Danjo's goal that tied the game earlier in the second half. Chris Dail scored late in the first half for the Terriers (4-2).

George Wythe 6, Fort Chiswell 0

WYTHEVILLE -- Andrew Meade recorded a hat trick to lead George Wythe (2-1).

Cave Spring 3, Northside 3, OT

After giving up an own goal in the first overtime frame, Northside (1-2-2) tied it with seconds remaining in the last overtime period on a goal from Peter Scotto.

Cave Spring scored with 20 minutes left in regulation to take the 2-1 lead, but Northside's Dane Ferguson sent the game into overtime by scoring with eight minutes left.

Bassett 2, Floyd County 2

FLOYD -- Samantha Morris and Caroline Blevins scored for Floyd County (4-0-1).

Ava Winckler and Sasha Doss each scored a goal for Bassett.

Radford 3, Virginia High 1

BRISTOL -- Tip Pattison, Mary Wiley and Nina Cundiff all found the back of the net for Radford (3-2).

Hannah Shankel scored for Virginia High.

Roanoke Catholic 2, North Cross 1

Kelly Jacobs' goal with 11 minutes left was the difference in the Celtics' win.

After Allie Dominguez scored on a breakaway to give Roanoke Catholic (7-0) the 1-0 lead, North Cross (2-1) tied it on a Jade Donaldson goal.

Patrick Henry 6, William Byrd 0

Kate Norbo scored all six goals for the Patriots.

Emily Robertson and Scarlett Strickler each had one assist for Patrick Henry (3-3).

George Wythe 5, PH-Glade Spring 0

WYTHEVILLE -- Kelby Dove scored three goals and had one assist, and Mellissa Geuter added two goals and one assist for the Maroons (1-3).

PH falls to 0-4-1.

Franklin County 2, George Washington 0

ROCKY MOUNT -- Margaret Parcell scored two goals to lead Franklin County (5-0).

PEARISBURG -- Lindsey Hunter scored two goals to lead Glenvar (2-0).

Ciara Meredith tallied the lone goal for Giles (2-3).

Stephen Allman netted three goals and three assists and his brother Mark added three goals to lead the Celtics.

Zac Zoller tallied two goals and three assists, and Jay Rice recorded eight saves for Roanoke Catholic (5-0).

Salem 13, E.C. Glass 12, OT

LYNCHBURG -- Ryan Rotanz scored seven goals and Kelsey Cotter tallied four goals as Salem (4-0) held off a late E.C. Glass run to get the win.
