Bath Co. wins Pioneer matchup
HOT SPRINGS -- Quarterback John Barden accounted for 348 of Bath County's 379 yards of total offense as the Chargers stayed unbeaten in the Pioneer District with a 26-23 win Friday night over Parry McCluer.
Barden threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Stefan Brown for a 13-7 halftime lead, then scored on a 64-yard run on the first play of the third quarter. He added a 16-yard TD scamper for Bath (4-4, 2-0).
Parry McCluer (1-6, 0-1) drew within three points on a 28-yard TD pass from Johnny Alerding to D.J. Taylor and a 2-yard run by Korey Flint.
Bath's defense stopped two Parry McCluer possessions in the final five minutes.
Barden finished with 200 yards rushing on 26 carries and 148 yards passing. Flint ran 17 times for 79 yards.
