Big 2nd quarter gets Bulldogs on track
MARTINSVILLE -- Chris Scott scored Martinsville's first three touchdowns in a 42-0 rout over visiting Magna Vista (0-7, 0-1) in the schools' Piedmont district opener on Saturday afternoon.
Steve Fuller led Martinsville (2-5, 1-0) with 139 yards rushing on 17 carries.
J.D. Tyree led the Bulldogs' defensive effort with three sacks and four tackles-for-less. Darian Dunbar added 8 tackles. The Bulldogs totaled 324 rushing yards.

Giles (5-1, 1-0 Three Rivers District) gained all 343 of its total yards on the ground and attempted just one pass.
Radford (1-5, 0-1) turned the ball over three times and was held to 238 yards of total offense -- 147 of those coming on two completions to Ryan Webb.

Wolves Invitational
FOREST -- Cave Spring's Tim Smith won his second major cross country meet this fall Saturday as he ran a time of 15 minutes, 48 seconds in the Runnin' with the Wolves Invitational at Wolf Branch Farm.
Smith finished 14 seconds ahead of Harrisonburg's Bryant Clopper. Turner Ashby's Alex Ott was third, followed by Barrett LeHardy of Hidden Valley and Nathan Brame of Radford.
Christiansburg edged Harrisonburg by 13 points for the boys' team title.
Jefferson Forest won the girls' team crown by three points over Blacksburg, which did not send its top runners to the meet.
Broadway's Margaret Richards won the individual title in 19:50, followed by Lord Botetourt's Stephanie Spickard, JF's Nicki Jannah, Botetourt's Morgan Spicuzza and Blacksburg's Sarah Dorrell.
