Quarterback Matt Sharver completed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Dustin Pickle and Grant Hall kicked four extra points and a 30-yard field goal for the Spartans (2-0). Brookville fell to 0-2.

The Golden Eagles (0-2) got steady play from junior quarterback Justin Ferguson, who completed six of eight passes for 52 yards while adding a rushing score. Dwayne Leftwich returned a third-quarter kickoff 88 yards for a TD, and Eric Poff rushed for 148 yards.

Jonathan Edwards piled up 333 yards rushing on 30 carries, but the Raiders could not stop Virginia Independent-power Covenant and running back Stevie Schoeffel in Charlottesville.
North Cross coach Jim Muscaro said Edwards' 333 yards were the most he could remember in his 37 years at the school. Edwards scored two touchdowns on runs of 57 and 65 yards.
Covenant's Schoeffel couldn't match Edwards' yardage total, but did score four times. Schoeffel finished with 203 yards on 18 carries.
The quarterbacks fared well in this shootout, too, with North Cross' James Revercomb going 9-for-12 for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Revercomb connected with Chase Morrison for a 47-yard score and his brother Wes Revercomb from 11 yards out.
Covenant quarterback Scott Mahone was 11-for-18 for 193 yards and three scores.

Cardell Rosser gained 139 yards on 22 carries and three touchdowns to lead Rockbridge County (2-0). Chase Prasnicki was equally effective, rushing for 101 yards on 17 carries while Patrick Crear added two interceptions for the defense.
Bosco Williams caught seven passes for 194 yards and a touchdown for Alleghany (0-2).
