RICHMOND -- Professional Rick Schuller of Chester fired a final round of 2-under-par 68 to capture the Senior Open of Virginia on Friday at the Country Club of Virginia's Westhampton Course.
Schuller, who recently turned 50 to become eligible, finished with a 36-hole total of 2-under 138, two shot ahead of runner-up John Cuomo, an amateur from Richmond.
Salem's Jack Allara, who led following an opening-round 69, settled for a 73 and finished in a three-way tie for fourth.
Roanoke's Mark Funderburke (74) and Lexington's Kurt Swenson (74) tied for 22nd at 150. Bill Nunnenkamp (Blue Ridge) and Roanoke's Danny Hopkins tied for 48th at 155.
Pro Jimmy Williams (Christiansburg) tied for 56th at 156, with Blacksburg's Jay Hardwick (82) tied for 59th at 157. Lexington's David Brogan (78) and Roanoke's Doug Henson (79) tied for 65th at 159. Vinton's Tim Chocklett (82) was 81st at 165.
