RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Roanoke's Meredith Swanson can blame her first failed attempt in LPGA Qualifying School for a terrible opening round.

After posting 10-over-par 82 in Tuesday's first round, Swanson improved in each of the next three rounds to finish the 72-hole Stage 1 qualifier at Mission Hills Country Club with a 14-over 302 total.

Swanson's final-round Friday of 2-under 70, which tied for second low for the day in the 241-player field, left her three shots shy of making the cut of the low 100 players and tied who earned berths to Stage 2 at 299. Swanson tied for 126th overall.
