Bussey, Hensley fall in VSGA Senior Women's Amateur semis

HOT SPRINGS -- Salem's Marilyn Bussey and Fran Hensley of Ridgeway were eliminated from the championship flight in Wednesday's quarterfinals of the VSGA Senior Women's Amateur at the The Homestead's Old Course.

Bussey lost to Joanne Kitusky of Glen Allen, 3 and 2, while Boodie McGurn of Richmond beat Hensley, 1 up.

Sara Cole of Salem advanced to the semifinals of the first flight.

Advancing in the second flight was Wanda Flora of Roanoke. Kit Davis of Salem, lost in the quarterfinals.

Third flight winners included Judy Knight and Kailynn Sprinkle - both of Salem. Jean Summerbell of Roanoke lost.

Betty Compton of Rocky Mount advanced in the fourth flight, along with Dottie Webb, who beat fellow Roanoker Linda Johnson, 2 up. In the fifth flight semifinals, Carolyn Southern lost.
