Kwan, Cohen in 'Champions' show

Kimmie Meissner, who recently won the World Championships, is skipping the stop here.

Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen will be skating in Roanoke next month, but Kimmie Meissner won't be.

The "Champions on Ice" figure skating show will make a stop at the Roanoke Civic Center at 7 p.m. on May 15.

Meissner, the 16-year-old who won gold at the World Championships last month after competing in the 2006 Olympics in February, has committed to certain stops on the tour. But Roanoke is not among them, according to a tour spokesperson.

Timothy Goebel, a 2002 Olympic bronze medalist, is also skipping the Roanoke stop.

Among those who have committed to the Roanoke stop are Kwan, a two-time Olympic medalist and five-time World champ; Cohen, who took silver at the 2006 Olympics and bronze at last month's World Championships; Irina Slutskaya, the 2006 Olympic bronze medalist and 2002 Olympic silver medalist; and Surya Bonaly, a three-time World silver medalist.

The men committed to the Roanoke stop are 2006 Olympic gold medalist Evgeni Plushenko, 2006 Olympic silver medalist Stephane Lambiel, 2006 Olympians Johnny Weir and Evan Lysacek, 1992 Olympic gold medalist Victor Petrenko and 1996 Olympian Rudy Galindo.

Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, who took silver in ice dancing at the 2006 Olympics, will skate in Roanoke.

Tatiana Totmyanina and Maxim Marinin, the 2006 Olympic gold medalists in pairs skating, also will be in Roanoke.

So will Marina Anissina and Gwendal Peizerat, the 2002 Olympic gold medalists in ice dancing.

Shizuka Arakawa, the 2006 Olympic gold medalist in women's figure skating, is not part of the tour.

Ticket prices for the Roanoke show range from $58.50 to $130.25.
