Change in papers may help
The recent mailbag letter (Dec. 1: Section overloads on Virginia Tech news) from a Daleville resident unhappy with what he felt is too much Virginia Tech sports coverage caught my attention.
Personally, I love the great coverage and articles by the two sports writers and look forward each day to reading this section.
Two years ago, I moved to the Smith Mountain Lake area from Augusta County. Our local newspaper was very heavily dominated by Virginia sports coverage.
In addition to moving, I canceled my home paper and joined the many Roanoke customers who love this paper.
Perhaps moving or changing papers may help this resident as it did me.
Go Hokies!

Hokies 10-win wonders but not champions
Attention all Virginia Tech football fans: I would like to be the first to congratulate the Hokies on another successful season.
Frank Beamer once again is in line for another 10-win season with a win in their bowl game.
Although I'm from Hillsville, Va., (home of Frank Beamer), I'm not a Hokie fan!
Every year, Tech starts out good and then most all of the fans start talking about a national championship, which is so far-fetched.
If you put Virginia Tech in the SEC, it would be a fourth- or fifth-place team year in and year out. Virginia Tech has a good team, but it is not a great team like most of the fans think they are.
It is my understanding that Tech has a trophy case built at the campus in Blacksburg for a national championship in football.
I believe they would call that: "getting the cart before the horse," don't you think!
