Marcus Vick sentenced
NORFOLK, Va. — Former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick appealed his conviction and punishment for a probation violation and got a stiffer jail sentence in return.
Vick was sentenced Monday in Norfolk General District Court to 30 days in jail. He was sentenced in August to 20 days.
Vick was convicted in October 2008 of DUI, eluding police and other violations. He received a 12-month suspended jail term and was ordered to pay fines, complete a treatment program and stay away from alcohol and drugs.
He violated his probation by missing counseling sessions and testing positive for marijuana.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — After a Guilford save was deflected to his foot, Kavyon Sarmadi scored in the 62nd minute to give the Maroons (11-3-3, 7-0-1) an ODAC win.
Guilford fell to 7-10-1, 2-6.

Former NFL and college football coach Bobby Ross of Lexington will speak tonight at a fundraiser for the Patrick Henry High School athletic department.
The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Braeloch meeting facility at the Boxtree Lodge on 2353 Hammond Drive in Vinton.
