Fantasy football forecaster
Well, it's official.
I've had my first mental block of the season when writing this column.
I've written three different introductions to the picks this week and promptly erased them all.
I've tried giving myself a break by walking around, reading other articles, listening to my iPod and still can't think of anything.
And I'd rather watch any Pauly Shore movie than stare at a computer screen, not writing.
Aw, who am I kidding? I think Pauly Shore is hilarious and every time I see "Son in Law" or "Bio-Dome" on television, regardless of the time, I'm watching it.
Sweet, I broke through the block. Thanks Pauly.
Week 5 went well for my picks. I hope Week 6 knows how to do impressions.
Quarterbacks
David Garrard, Jaguars
He's actually been decent this season fantasy-wise and he's definitely worth playing against St. Louis this week.
Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks
I've always liked picking him in this column because he rarely disappoints. Just like ordering your usual at a restaurant. It may not blow you away, but you'll be satisfied.
Running backs
Ahmad Bradshaw, Giants
Though the Giants-Saints game should be high-scoring, I don't expect New York to steer away from the run to get those points.
Kevin Smith, Lions
Yeah, yeah, I know. He plays for the Lions but he puts up respectable, if not good, numbers every week for me and I'll reward him with a mention.
Wide receivers
Braylon Edwards, Jets
One of our page designers, Rob Meyer, is a Browns fan and believed that Edwards would blow up after he got out of Cleveland. He was right.
Jeremy Maclin, Eagles
With Donovan McNabb back, he should have really good numbers for the rest of the season. The Eagles look dangerous.
Tight ends
Heath Miller, Steelers
Not really a sleeper here, but tight ends are so hit or miss. Chris Cooley was basically an offensive tackle last week, for crying out loud!
Zach Miller, Raiders
I'm really running out of these guys to pick. So here. I went with another Miller. That was easy.
Kickers and defense
I'm thinking Ryan Longwell for kicker. The Vikings' offense could stall against Baltimore.
Also, I just have a hunch that Seattle's defense will be good this week against Arizona.
Last week
Hits: Kurt Warner, Rashard Mendenhall, Mario Manningham, Dwayne Bowe, Matt Prater, Eagles defense.
Misses: Jake Delhomme, Marcedes Lewis, Chris Cooley.
So-so: Steve Slaton.
