Sports mailbag: Cozy seating shouldn't be mandated at Red Sox games

I cannot agree more with Aaron McFarling's column, "It's Time to Take the Tarps off the Seats."

With a free evening Monday, I told my wife we should go to the Red Sox game, but then remembered it may be crowded and we may not get a seat. I say take the tarps and store them.

If I wanted to sit close to someone, I would make that decision, not let it be forced on me. I go to the ballgame to enjoy the game, not get cozy with someone. My recent attendance at a game was awful as I was sitting in a crowd.

I do not know how may plays I missed due to so many people constantly climbing over me.

But, where could I move to?

What kind of business decision is it to make so many people miserable when you need those people to continue to support the ballclub?

Please, give us space so we can enjoy a relaxing night at the ballgame.
