GOLF
Creekmore wins Women’s So. Senior Am
LEXINGTON — Texan Carolyn Creekmore shot a final-round 73 on Thursday to finish two strokes ahead of Florida’s Sisi Hedges in the Women’s Southern Senior Championship at Lexington Golf & Country Club.
Creekmore, of Dallas, shot 54-hole score of 228 in the event, which featured top amateur players from 13 states from the southern United States.
Salem’s Dot Bolling (237, final round 79) finished ninth overall, followed by Ridgeway’s Fran Hensley (238, final-round 82). Salem’s Sara Cole totaled 255 in the first flight and Roanoke’s Becky Bondurant had a 264.

Naff, Mayhew to be honored by Ferrum
FERRUM, Va. — Ferrum College will induct seven new members Saturday into its athletic hall of fame, including former baseball star Billy Mayhew and long-time baseball coach Abe Naff.
Mayhew played for the Panthers from 1992 to 1995 under Naff. Mayhew is Ferrum’s only three-time All-American and also set the NCAA Division III career and single-season strikeout records in 1995. Mayhew was drafted in the 31st round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves.
Naff was the Panthers’ baseball coach from 1985 to 2007, compiling a 643-236-3 record, earning nine USA South titles and 10 D-III playoff appearances.
The other inductees are Bill Bennett (baseball/basketball), Danny Hodges (football), James Hambacher (football), Lucy Norton (program supporter) and Coleman Starnes (football/basketball). 
The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Blue Ridge Mountain Room inside Franklin Hall on the Ferrum campus. The inductees will also be recognized at halftime of Ferrum- Maryville football game.
