She was born to Isabelle Ferguson Via and William Noah Via on April 26, 1905. She was a native of Roanoke, Va. and lived there most of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over fifty years, Mr. Nathan H. Key, who for over 55 years served as a Senior Vice-President of Mountain Trust Bank/Nations Bank in downtown Roanoke. Her only daughter, Mrs. Gail Key Leonard, a United States History and Government High School teacher predeceased her in death in 2005. She is preceded in death by her brothers she dearly loved, Captain Robert (Bob) Via United States Marine Corps Assistant Naval Attache to the American Embassy London, Major Burks Alexander Via (World War II Fighter Pilot and as a Personal Pilot for the Marine Corps Commandant), Frank Via and her beloved, treasured sisters, Mrs. Elsie Via-Logwood, Mrs. Vivian Via Dick and Mrs. Annie Via Grayson.
