Lisa Rigney Marshall, 49, of Radford, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016.Survivors include her husband, William Kent Marshall; sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Lindsey Beach and Christine Schaffer of Harrisonburg, and Justin Keith and Michelle Hancock of Radford; grandchildren, Jaxsen Keith Hancock and Charles Thomas Beach; and numerous brothers and sisters.The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Edward L. Lester, 87, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016. Preceding him in death was his wife and mother of his children, Marie Lester; parents, Robert and Virginia; and his sister, Etta Mae Lancaster. Many were blessed beyond words to have known and loved this dear man. When you lose someone so amazing a piece of your heart and soul leaves forever, but the real peace comes from knowing Edward is with his Heavenly Father.
Herbert (Big Ed) Davis, 93, of "Big Hill" Salem, Va., received his wings from God and went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016. He was the second son born May 20, 1923, in Roanoke, Va. to the late Edmund and Agnes Davis. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Georgia B. Davis; brothers, James E. Davis and Roy L. Davis.At an early age he accepted Christ at High Street Baptist Church, where he remained an active member until his illness. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as Staff Sergeant in World War II until he was honorably discharged. Upon leaving the military, he became a brick mason and in the early sixties he joined forces with James "Red" Charlton and formed Charlton and Davis Brick Masonry.Those left to cherish and keep his memory alive are his daughters, Wanda (Norris) Kasey and Cheryl Hargraves; grandchildren, Herbert and Norris Kasey, Cory Hargraves and Lisa Saunders; great-grandchildren, Ashley Saunders and De'Andre Thompson; great-great grandchild, Zayah Woody; two brothers, Curtis H. Davis and Clarence D. Davis, of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Helen Davis and Evelyn Bethel; sister-in-law, Glory Paige; faithful friend, Richard Chubb; devoted friend and business partner, James "Red" Charlton; numerous nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.Funeral service will be held noon Friday, May 27, 2016, at High Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Serenus T. Churn Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Big Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
