CHARLOTTESVILLE - Eric Bird hammered home a rebound shot from inside the penalty area with less than four minutes left in the second overtime period to give the Virginia men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over 23rd-ranked VCU.
Matt Brown and Riggs Lennon recorded assists on Bird's game-winner.
Bird assisted on Darius Madison's goal in the 19th minute that opened the scoring for the Cavaliers (5-3-1).
Kharlton Belmar tallied the equalizer for VCU as he took a centering feed from Isaac Owusu and blistered a 10-yard shot just under the crossbar (3-4-1) in the 64th minute.
Jeff Gal made four saves for Virginia while Andrew Wells made five saves for VCU.
Washington & Lee 4, Eastern Mennonite 0
LEXINGTON - Al Organ, Toby D'Ambola and Ben Bayles all scored in a 13-minute span of the first half to give the Generals a lead they would not relinquish as they shut out the Royals.
Mason Billings rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 54th minute for Washington & Lee (5-0-4, 3-0-1).
Eastern Mennonite (2-8, 0-4) could muster only three shots on goal and goalkeeper Andrew Yoder made four saves.
Washington and Lee 6, Hollins 1
ROANOKE - Becca Dunn scored a hat trick to help carry Washington and Lee over Hollins.
Hollins (2-7, 1-4) got on the board first after Maran O'Neill scored an unassisted goal in the 18th minute.
Washington and Lee responded with six unanswered goals. The Generals (9-1, 5-0) got their first goal from Katie Clemmons in the 26th minute, followed by Dunn's first goal minutes later. Kate Sarfert and Haley Ward contributed goals for Washington and Lee.
No. 4 Virginia 5, Radford 0
CHARLOTTESVILLE - Elly Buckley scored twice in eight minutes to help lift Virginia over Radford.
Lucy Hyams, Caleigh Foust and Katie Kelly all recorded goals for the Cavaliers (12-1).
The Highlanders (3-7) didn't record a shot on goal and recorded one total shot.
Generals fall in semifinal
FREDERICKSBURG - The Washington and Lee doubles team of Taylor Shamshiri and Michael Holt lost in the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional on Monday at Mary Washington.
The top-seeded duo lost to the sixth-seeded team of Mike Buxbaum and Emerson Walsh of Johns Hopkins 9-8 (6).
Cavaliers doubles pairs compete at ITA All-American
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Danielle Collins and Maci Epstein defeated Erin Stephens and Iris Verboven of
Mississippi 8-3 to advance to the second round of the qualifying doubles draw at the ITA All-American Champion-
ships a the Riviera Tennis Club.
Julia Elbaba and Rachel Pierson were eliminated by Brynn Boren and Zoe Katz of Southern California 8-7 (6).
Collins and Epstein must win two more matches to advance to the main draw of four teams from the doubles'
Generals finish seventh at Joe Agee Invitational
WILLIAMSBURG - Washington & Lee shot a six-over-par 290 in the final round to finish seventh out of 11 teams at the Joe Agee Invitational held at the Williamsburg Club hosted by William & Mary.
The 290 score was the fourth-lowest on the day and vaulted Washington & Lee four places in the overall standings.
Conley Hurst tied for 16th overall in the individual competition with a seven-over-par 220.
James Madison took the overall team title with a one-under-par score of 851, while William & Mary's Alex Hicks took medalist honors with a 14-under score of 199, including an ace in his final round.
