RALEIGH, N.C. - Ashley Meier netted her sixth goal of the season to put Virginia Tech ahead of North Carolina State in the sixth minute after capitalizing on a broken play, and the Hokies went on to a 4-1 win on Thursday.
Katie Yensen followed Meier's lead by scoring in the 18th minute, putting the Hokies (9-1-1, 4-1 ACC) on top 2-0. The Wolfpack fell to 6-4, 1-4. Virginia Tech also got goals from Taylor Antolino and Katie DeTuro.
Virginia 3, Duke 2
DURHAM, N.C. - The top-ranked Virginia women's soccer team rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to defeat Duke (4-5-2. 1-3-1 ACC), and extend its winning streak to 10 games.
Virginia (10-0, 4-0) got a goal from Morgan Brian in the 46th minute. Makenzy Doniak tied the score less than two minutes later. Gloria Douglas hammered home the game-winning goal in the 79th minute off a cross from Shasta Fisher.
Ferrum 4, Warren Wilson 3
SWANNANOA, N.C. - Aaron Gustine recorded a hat trick as the Panthers raced out to a big lead and held on to defeat the Owls.
Two of Gustine's goals sandwiched a goal by Cristian Turcios to stake Ferrum (5-4) to a 3-0 halftime lead.
Joseph Martin made four saves for Ferrum.
Greensboro 4, Southern Virginia 1
BUENA VISTA - Tyler Slayton scored twice as the Pride scored four times in the first half and cruised to victory.
Dennis Bronson scored for SVU (0-8).
