EMORY - Quarterback Kyle Boden picked apart Ferrum's defense for 309 yards and three touchdowns as Emory & Henry cruised past the Panthers 49-13 on Saturday.
Boden was an efficient 26-31 with no interceptions.
The Wasps (1-0) scored the game's first 42 points with Chad Williams hauling in eight catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Lucas Kirby recorded seven catches for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Ferrum (0-1) was led by receiver Troy Helton's seven catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.
Washington and Lee 14, Franklin & Marshall 13
LEXINGTON - Washington and Lee's Brandon Taylor intercepted Diplomat quarterback E.J. Schneider in the closing seconds as the Generals (1-0) held on to earn their first win of the season.
Schneider led Franklin & Marshall into the end zone, but a 2-point try fell short with 29 seconds left.
Franklin & Marshall recovered the ensuing onsides kick, but Taylor saved the day for the Generals.
Running back Luke Terna led Washington and Lee with 86 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
Akron 35, JMU 33
AKRON, OH - With seconds remaining, James Madison quarter back Michael Birdsong completed a crossing route to Daniel Brown, putting JMU (1-1) into field goal range, but time slipped away and the Dukes were unable to spike the ball before the clock hit zero as Akron (1-1) edged James Madison.
Birdsong led JMU with 24 completions for 255 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
William & Mary 31, Hampton 7
WILLIAMSBURG - Mikal Abdul-Saboor carried the ball 18 times for 111 yards and one TD as the Tribe (1-1) rolled the Pirates (0-2).
Quarterback Michael Graham threw for 106 yards and one touchdown to lead William and Mary.
Campbell 56, UVa-Wise 21
BUIES CREEK, N.C. - A.J. Artis hauled in an 18-yard TD pass from Brian Hudson as Campbell stormed to a big second-quarter lead and went on to defeat UVa-Wise.
The Camels (1-1) buried the Cavaliers (0-1) with 659 yards of total offense. Wise recorded 234 yards of offense on the day.
Liberty 45, Monmouth (NJ) 15
LYNCHBURG - Cave Spring grad Josh Woodrum passed for 237 yards and two touchdowns as the Flames (1-1) rocked the Hawks (0-2).
Teammate Darrin Peterson hauled in three Woodrum passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
Rutgers 38, Norfolk St. 0
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers back Paul James rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns as the Scarlet Knights stomped the Spartans (0-2).
Rutgers (1-1) led 21-0 after the first quarter of play.
Bethune-Cookman 66, Virginia Union 7
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Both Erik Williams and Nick Addison returned interceptions for touchdowns as Bethune-Cookman cruised past Virginia Union (0-1).
The Wildcats (2-0) led 17-0 after one quarter of play.
Johns Hopkins 38, Randolph-Macon 14
ASHLAND - Blue Jay Robbie Mately completed 31 of 42 passes for 318 yards and two touchdowns as Johns Hopkins (1-0) rolled the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon (0-1) was led by quarterback Zac Naccarato's seventeen completions, 243 yards, and two touchdowns. Teammate Christian Cook recorded eight catches for 118 yards receiving.
Hampden-Sydney 42, Averett 12
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY -Holton Walker broke a school record with 235 yards recieving as Hampden-Sydney trounced Averett (0-1).
Walker recorded 14 receptions, including two touchdown catches.
Tiger quarterback Nash Nance rushed for two scores and completed 24 passes for 372 yards and four TDs.
Bridgewater 57, St. Vincent 0
BRIDGEWATER - Quarterback Willie Logan threw 10 completions for 163 yards and two touchdowns and added two more scores on the ground as the Eagles walloped St. Vincent (0-1).
Bridgewater's Jacob Wright carried the ball 15 times for 79 yards and a touchdown.
The Eagles (1-0) averaged 7.2 yards a play in the blowout .
Methodist 38, Southern Virginia 20
BUENA-VISTA - Max Reber completed 27 of 37 passes for 398 yards and four touchdowns as the Monarchs bested the Knights.
Southern Virginia (0-1) was led by Andy Jones who threw for 148 yards and a touchdown.
Methodist (1-0) led the entire game.
Gallaudet 31, Shenandoah 20
WINCHESTER - B.J. Flores rushed for 121 yards on 22 caries and teammate Todd Bonheyo ran for 68 and three TDs as the Bison (1-0) beat the Hornets.
Justin Neff led Shenandoah (0-1) with 219 passing yards and a touchdown on 19 completions.
Muhlenberg 59, Apprentice School 6
ALLENTOWN, PA - Joe Carlucci threw 11 completions for 167 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Mules (1-0) past the Builders.
Quarterback Jonathan Whelan passed for 120 yards and a touchdown for Apprentice (0-1) and was the team's leading rusher with 35 yards.
CNU 17, Salisbury 10
SALISBURY, MD - Marcus Morrast threw two second-half touchdown passes, the second coming with just 15 seconds remaining, as the Captains (1-0) beat the Sea Gulls (0-1).
The game-winning pass from Morrast went into the arms of Paul Dukes and capped a 5 minute final drive.
Virginia State 29, Fayetteville State, 28
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Devonte Hunt kicked a 30 yard field goal as time expired to give the Trojans a dramatic win over the Broncos (0-1).
Virginia State (1-0) was led by Jordan Anderson who rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries.
