The Virginia Tech men's basketball team will face heavyweight Michigan State in the Brooklyn portion of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
The pairings for the Barclays Center event were revealed Thursday; the four participants had previously been announced. Tech will face coach Tom Izzo's Spartans at about 9:30 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader on Nov. 22. Tech will meet Oklahoma or Seton Hall the following night. The games will air on truTV.
It will be Tech's first meeting with the Spartans, who return Keith Appling and three other starters from a Sweet 16 team.
The two teams that will visit the Hokies in the on-campus portion of the event have not yet been announced.
TENNIS
Roanoke hires Schaefer
Roanoke College has named Jim Schaefer its men's tennis coach.
He succeeds Phil Benne, who will remain in his other position as the Maroons women's soccer coach.
Schaefer has been the assistant tennis pro at Roanoke Country Club since 2011.
TRACK AND FIELD
W&L names coach
Washington and Lee has hired Dana Freeman as head coach of its women's track and field team.
Freeman has been an assistant men's and women's coach at NCAA Division II power Ashland the past three years. She has also been an assistant at Roanoke, Radford, Campbell and Wooster.
The Kent State graduate will also serve as a cross country assistant coach.
