Virginia Tech added a receiver to its 2014 recruiting class Wednesday when DeMatha Catholic's Cameron Phillips of Hyattsville, Md., said he would sign with the Hokies.

The 6-foot, 178-pound receiver picked the Hokies after narrowing his list to Rutgers, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

247 Sports lists him as a four-star recruit and No. 42 receiver nationally. Rivals has him as a three-star prospect and the No. 55 receiver.

Phillips caught 34 passes for 632 yards and eight touchdowns to help lead DeMatha to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title game last fall.

He's the first commitment secured by new Hokies receivers coach Aaron Moorehead.

Phillips is the 16th commitment in the class, although they are nonbinding until February.
