CHARLOTTESVILLE — Antonio Alvarez drove in four runs and Andrew MacDonald pitched 3 1⁄3 scoreless innings, leading Elon to a 10-7 victory over UNC Wilmington on Friday in the NCAA baseball tournament.

Andrew MacDonald (5-1) allowed a single that tied the game at 7 in the sixth, then shut down the Seahawks on one hit the rest of the way.

Elon (33-28) will face Virginia (48-10) today at 6 p.m. Wilmington (37-22) faces Army (29-22) at 1 p.m. in an elimination game.

Alvarez hit an RBI double in the second and a three-run double in the sixth, when Elon scored five times to erase a 5-2 deficit.

Pinch-hitter Wil Leathers followed with a home run, and Chris Bresnahan added a two-run single in the eighth to pad the lead for the Phoenix (33-28).

Wilmington (37-22) got two RBIs each from Terence Connelly and Andy Austin. Connelly went 3 for 3 and Corey Dick went 3 for 5.

Seahawks starter Mat Batts (9-4) allowed eight hits and eight runs, seven earned, in six innings. Batts allowed two runs in the second inning, then retired 12 consecutive batters before giving up five runs in the sixth inning.

Elon plated two runs in the top of the second. Alex Swim led off with a triple to left-center field and scored on the double by Alvarez, who was sacrificed to third before scoring on an RBI groundout by Danny Lynch.

Ryan LaGrange and Dick opened the bottom of the second for the Seahawks with back-to-back singles and scored on a two-run double by Austin, who scored on a single by Connolly.
