In the region: Maroons split a pair of softball games in Orlando tourney

ORLANDO, Fla. — The 16th ranked Roanoke softball team finished the final day of the Rebel Games with a 3-0 win over Bluffton and a 5-1 loss at the hands of Aurora on Wednesday.
In Roanoke’s win over the Beavers (4-3), Stephanie Clark pitched a complete game, allowing five hits.
Former Timesland player Alea Bier went 3-for-3, hitting two doubles.
In the loss to the Spartans (4-1), Clark scored the Maroons’ only run with a homer in the top of the seventh inning. Roanoke committed six errors.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Ferrum 15, Bridgewater 11
BRIDGEWATER — Sydney Hewartson had four goals and four assists and Lauren Blankenship added three goals as the Panthers (4-1) defeated the Eagles (0-2) on Tuesday.
Ferrum has won four straight games. Katie Freeman led Bridgewater with three goals and one assist. Amanda Cheney made seven saves for the Panthers. Laura Reynolds had six saves for the Eagles.
Mary Washington 15, Roanoke 14
DAVENPORT, FL — Darragh Evarts had five goals and three assists and Allison Bonanno added four goals and five assists as the Maroons (0-2) fell to the 18th ranked Eagles (3-2).
Emily Atkinson led Mary Washington with four goals, Angela Sperbeck, Keller Torrey and Corrine Wiederkehr each had three goals. Lauren Curtin made nine saves for Roanoke and Kathryn Stiltz had 10 saves for the Eagles.

BRIDGEWATER – Tyler Poage had three goals and Daniel Batong added three goals and one assist to lead the Panthers (5-2) past the Eagles (2-1) on Tuesday. Ferrum has won five consecutive games after a 0-2 start.
