Hoyas cruise past South Florida in Big East

NEW YORK -- Jason Clark and Greg Monroe scored 16 points each, and No. 22 Georgetown built a big first-half lead before handling everything South Florida star Dominique Jones could offer in a 69-49 victory Wednesday in the Big East tournament.
Chris Wright also had 15 points for the eighth-seeded Hoyas (21-9), who were likely already in the NCAA tournament but now have the chance to improve their seeding with a deep run in the tourney. They'll play No. 1 seed Syracuse in the quarterfinals today.
The two conference heavyweights have split their 12 meetings in the Big East tournament.

Marquette 57, St. John's 55
NEW YORK -- Lazar Hayward scored 20 points, David Cubillan hit the deciding 3-pointer with 1:11 to play and Marquette beat St. John's in the second round of the Big East tournament.
The fifth-seeded Golden Eagles (21-10) held on after losing a 14-point lead.
Notre Dame 68, Seton Hall 56
NEW YORK -- Luke Harangody had 20 points and 10 rebounds in a healthy performance off the bench, and Notre Dame shut down Seton Hall for a victory in the Big East tournament.
Texas Tech 82, Colorado 67
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- John Roberson scored 19 points, Nick Okorie added 18 and Texas Tech overcame a sloppy start defensively to open the Big 12 tournament with a victory.
Nebraska 75, Missouri 60
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Brandon Richardson scored 19 points and No. 12 seed Nebraska took command with an early 16-1 run and shocked No. 5 seed Missouri in an opening-round upset at the Big 12 tournament.
Oklahoma State 81, Oklahoma 67
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Keiton Page scored 19 of his 24 points in a dominating first half, and Oklahoma State withstood a brief rally in the season's third Bedlam game to beat Oklahoma in the Big 12 tournament.
Robert Morris 52, Quinnipiac 50
HAMDEN, Conn. -- Dallas Green deflected a potential game-winning shot then sank two free throws with seven seconds left as Robert Morris beat Quinnipiac for its second straight Northeast Conference championship.
Montana 66, Weber St. 65
OGDEN, Utah -- Anthony Johnson scored 34 of his career-high 42 points in the second half, leading Montana back from a 22-point deficit and into the NCAA tournament with a win over Weber State in the Big Sky tournament championship.
WOMEN
Clemson's McKinney resigns from post
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Cristy McKinney resigned as coach of the Clemson women's basketball team Wednesday, one week after the end of her fifth-consecutive losing season at the helm of the program.
In a statement released by the school, McKinney said a change was needed for both her and the university after her five years as head coach.
Clemson ended the season with a 13-18 record, giving McKinney a 58-93 record for the Lady Tigers over all.
